Director, Final Mile Home Delivery 
Description

Hilldrup has an exciting opportunity for an entrepreneurial, motivated, results-oriented logistics professional to lead our newly-created Final Mile Home Delivery division. In partnership with the Sr. Director of Logistics, the individual selected for this role will be responsible for the strategic direction for this business unit including: the development and execution of a detailed business strategy to include: a workforce plan, operational efficiency, a marketing and sales plan, a budget to support success as well as metrics to monitor success. The incumbent will continue to ensure the on-going and long-term success of the unit by delivering top-notch serviceconsistent with our Unwavering Commitment valueto current and prospective customers and clients. The selected candidate will be expected to embrace and live out our organizations mission, vision and values every day.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Partners with Hilldrup leadership in the development of a comprehensive strategy for business unit success: drives revenue goal achievement while maximizing efficiency and profitability;
  2. In partnership with the Sr. Director of Logistics, leads Final Mile Delivery Operations including: workforce and capacity planning, budgeting and overall client success;
  3. Develops key delivery performance and quality metrics; monitors and ensures that related metrics related are met/exceeded;
  4. Manages and directs a team of operations/delivery professionals;
  5. Provides outstanding customer service delivery to individual customers as well as corporate accounts; serves as point of escalation for all customer service inquiries/concerns;
  6. Reviews all contracts and service agreements to fully understand obligations and to ensure delivery of exceptional customer service;
  7. Serves as subject matter expert regarding route optimization technology; trains Operations team on its usage;
  8. Manages and maintains effective working relationships with internal departments;
  9. Determines appropriate technological needs and manages vendor relationships;
  10. Manages and maintains third party and technology provider relationships;
  11. Directs and manages operations personnel for final mile deliveries;
  12. Leads implementation of new clients and new locations we grow into;
  13. Assists Sr. Director with developing and leading sales presentations;
  14. Other duties as assigned.
 
Position Requirements
  • Four-year degree from an accredited university, preferably in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business or a related field and/or equivalent experience;
  • 5-7 years of final mile delivery experience in a high volume, fast paced work environment;
  • 3-5 years of logistics experience;
  • 3-5 years of successfully managing, coaching and motivating a team;
  • Business start-up experience strongly preferred;
  • In-depth understanding of industry and final mile delivery best practices;
  • Excellent coaching, mentoring, leadership and performance management orientation;
  • Outstanding analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to effectively develop and maintain working relationships with internal partners as well as individual and corporate clients;
  • Ability to work autonomously and as a member of a team;
  • Exceptional organizational abilities and strong attention to detail;
  • Ability to multi-task and to effectively manage changing priorities;
  • Ability to positively influence team members who are not direct reports;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Adept regarding the use of technology;
  • Ability to travel 10-20%;
  • Strong familiarity with geographic areas serviced by Home Delivery division;
  • Commitment to highest ethical practices;
  • Adept with technology.
