Summary

The Repair Station Supervisor is a working supervisor: It is an individual contributor that is vested to lead the Repair Station Technicians and provide guidance and support to resolve questions or conflicts related to the maintenance of product, workstations, and applicable documentation.

The Repair Station Supervisor is responsible to manage the daily day-to-day activities within the repair station. The role is responsible to follow Repair Station schedules, supervise repair station technicians, performing repairs and equipment overhauls under FAA Part 145 and Repair Station Manual and EASA requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Represents Astronics Quality Management Team at work locations across the company and throughout the supply and customer base.
  • Acts as a liaison of the company culture among team members, ensuring a high level of motivation and morale among team members.
  • Supervises and provides mentoring to personnel on processes, procedures, work performance, work instructions, adequate work techniques, among other related activities.
  • Coordinates activities and/or assignments with the Repair Station Team to comply with work schedules, efficiency, Turn Around Time, material handling practices, cleanliness, discipline, among others. Supervises overtime when necessary to meet delivery requirements.
  • Responsible to review product documentation, and applicable bulletins and work instructions for applicable jobs in the repair station. Performs maintenance according to schematic diagrams, technical drawings, datasheets, component maintenance manuals and written work instructions.
  • Responsible to order component parts to support current and future repairs.
  • Authors training material and provides the required training, technical support, and guidance to involved departments.
  • Documents and reports Analysis and Repair data, consistent with company and customers policies and procedures, including tracking and reporting department metrics, equipment failures and trends.
  • Work with cross functional teams to develop repairs and resolve issues.
  • Performs data collection and analysis of the designated team for performance evaluation. Supports team's capacity analysis for all designated activities and responsibilities, including but not limited to: Analysis and Repair, Troubleshooting, Specifications Review, etcetera.
  • Ensures compliance to ISO 9000, AS9100, and all those required by the Quality Management System. This may include approval of controlled documents, internal audit schedule, internal auditor training, and management of FRACA's.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of Customer quality assurance codes and standards.
  • Support customer and regulatory authority with on-site audits and visits.
  • Acts as a liaison for Continuous Improvement in the Repair Station, by collaborating with other management in the ideation, implementation and execution of applicable methods, philosophies and practices flown down from the management team.
  • Responsible for implementing and complying with all ethical and legal compliance requirements.
  • Responsible to maintain a safe and clean working environment.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor/management.
 
Position Requirements

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

Required:

  • Associates Degree in Electronics Technology
  • Minimum of 2 (two) years of experience working in the Aviation Industry.
  • Currently hold A&P Mechanics License or FAA Repairman Designation or able to meet the requirements.
  • Minimum of 3 (three) years of experience in electronic and mechanical assembly, with strong knowledge of best practices in the electronic assembly in an AS9100 regulated.
  • Experience in planning and scheduling workloads and meeting customer on time delivery (OTD) requirements.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; adept at managing conflict to resolution.
  • Experience working in a continuous improvement environment.
  • Solid computer and typing skills using common Microsoft Windows applications.
  • Must be able to speak, read and understand English.
  • Ability to read and understand schematic diagrams, technical drawings, datasheets, component maintenance manuals and written work instructions.
  • Ability to pass any required background checks along with required initial and random ongoing drug and alcohol screening.
  • Working knowledge of ISO/9001/14000/13485 and AS9100 processes
