Description

Valley Community Services Board (VCSB) is looking for a dynamic individual to join our Team as a Jail & ES Lead Clinician. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of the system wide transformation of providing Mental Health services in Regional Jail setting.  This employee is responsible for coordinating/supervising VCSB Jail Team and provide jail-based direct services to mental health and substance abuse clients and their families.

Essential Functions

  • Coordinate and provide direct service to the Middle River Regional Jail.
  • Oversee all services provided by clinicians and case managers at MRRJ.
  • Provide individual, group and family support and case management to clients currently residing in jail.
  • Complete pre-admission screenings for psychiatric and substance abuse hospitalizations as appropriate.
  • Determine the least restrictive level of care to include involuntary or voluntary hospitalization, crisis stabilization services and/or out-patient follow-up.
  • Coordinates detention/commitment proceedings with the court and/or admission to state, regional or private in-patient services if hospitalization is indicated.
  • Coordinate treatment of clients with staff and community agencies by participating in clinical and administrative staffing’s. 
  • Assist in diagnosis and treatment planning of the client, acting as a client advocate by referral to appropriate resources and promotion of human rights.
  • Complies with client rights and confidentiality policies, licensure regulations, Medicaid regulations as applicable.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of:

  • Principles and practices of individual, family, and group therapy.
  • Ethical standards and standards of confidentiality.
  • Thorough knowledge of clinical documentation requirements.
  • Familiarity with psychotropic medication, physical health needs, and additional confounding factors.
  • Skills Pertaining to:
  • Diagnostic assessment, crisis intervention, individual and group supportive services.
  • Demonstrated sound judgment and conflict resolution skills.
  • Community relations skills.
  • Critical thinking skills.

Ability to:

  • Understand the etiology and treatment of mental illness, substance abuse and developmental disability.
  • Form working alliances with clients, family members and staff.
  • Work with families from many socioeconomic and educational backgrounds.
 
Position Requirements

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree with a major course study in Human Services required. (Counseling, Social Work, Rehabilitation Counseling).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • LCSW, LPC, LSAP or LMFT
  • CLINICAL SUPERVISION TOWARDS LICENSURE PROVIDED
