The Director of Communications will develop and implement a robust communication strategy at Blue Federal Credit Union involving a broad and diverse range of internal and external communications. To ensure success, the Director of Communications Strategy should be innovative, organized, and self-motivated with a keen interest in driving strategic messages to key internal and external role-players. The Director requires exceptional public speaking and writing skills with a strategic and creative mindset. They are expected to be a strategic thinker with a meticulous attention to detail, working well under pressure and meeting deadlines. Critical skills required of this position will include phenomenal copywriting and communication with the ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced environment. Develops, implements, and manages both an internal and external corporate communications strategy that builds and maintains a positive corporate brand. Ensure related communications align tightly with company goals. This position also focuses on:

  • Leads external and internal corporate communications in copywriting, creating content and incorporating branding in multiple online and print platforms such as LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, email and web. This will include developing methods to deliver messages, ease of navigation, and clarity of information. Drafts and reviews written deliverables (write, edit, and proofread).
  • Assists the CEO and Executive Leadership in developing copy for presentations, speeches, and other important corporate messages. Works with key internal role- players to brainstorm content ideas, in line with the organizational strategy and in support of various strategic goals.

  • Responsible for the content creation of internal corporate communication in various online and print platforms to include but not limited to company literature, web pages, white papers, executive bios, corporate newsletter content, social media content, and speeches. Ensures all content is current and relevant.

  • Exhibits judgement in utilizing a consistent brand voice across all channels. Apply appropriate length and tone based on each channel to engage segments and inspire action. Adheres to the companys style guide, ensuring we produce high-quality and error-free copy.

  • Provides consistent and timely information to employees through various communications programs. Seeks feedback from employees about the companys communication strategy and efforts of continuous improvement.

  • Collaborates to fully understand products, services, and topics to create accurate and effective communication messages and talking points.

  • Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.

Compensation Range: $67,044 - $100,567

EXPERIENCE: Five years to eight years of similar or related experience in communications strategy development and execution.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES: A college degree. Bachelors degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: The ability to motivate or influence internal or external senior level professionals is a critical part of the job, requiring a significant level of influence and trust. Obtaining cooperation and agreement on important outcomes via frequently complex, senior level dialogues, as well as a professional level of written communication skills are essential to the position.

OTHER SKILLS: Proficient command of appropriate grammar and writing methodologies. Extensive experience in copywriting and editing. Content writing experience for all media platforms. Solid understanding of project management principles. Highly computer literate with capability in email, MS Office and related business and communication tools. Excellent communication (oral and written) and presentation skills. Outstanding organizational and planning abilities. A portfolio of work available for review. Bonus points for financial industry and/or agency experience.
