Job Summary:

The Academys Samuel Goldwyn and Linwood Dunn Theaters, located in Beverly Hills and Hollywood are known throughout the film industry and around the world as the Gold Standard of screening rooms. The Goldwyn and Dunn theaters have been designed from the ground up by the film industrys leading professionals and engineers in sound and projection. Every aspect is meticulously and routinely inspected, calibrated, and tuned to ensure the highest quality viewing experience in image and sound, in the manner world renowned filmmakers expect of the Academy.

Theater Operations is dedicated to upholding the Academys standard of excellence in hosting and producing events. Representing the Academy with professionalism and exceptional customer service in a courteous manner, establishing and maintaining a friendly yet cordial atmosphere with members, guests, and clients to assure the successful outcome and the safety of attendees at all events.

Job Duties and Requirements:

  • Work under the supervision of Theater Managers in various positions and capacities during events.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal communications skills; ensure precise, effective communication and cooperation within the organization as well as with all outside clients and vendors.
  • Must have the capacity to work quickly and efficiently under high-pressure situations.
  • Must be able to familiarize and recognize Academy members, governors, and leadership personnel.
  • Establish and maintain a professional and genial tone with Academy members, talent, guests, clients, and peers.
  • Ensure the safety of all guests during events by reporting problems, suspicious activity, and safety hazards to a supervisor; assisting with evacuation during emergencies if needed. If hired, must become knowledgeable of the Academys evacuations procedures and protocols.
  • Work well with people of diverse backgrounds and experiences.
  • Required to attend Academy Town Halls and departmental meetings/briefings.
  • Function in a Virtual Office environment where you are required to:
    • Communicate regularly through email, Zoom, text.
    •  Be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
    • Work with a virtual staff calendar to maintain availability and receive schedule info
    • Read organization and departmental communications and remain aware of policy updates.
    • Use various applications on desktop or mobile.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, overtime, and late hours an expected 4-6 shifts per month.
  • Clear, concise communication using radios (walkie-talkie).
  • Ability to work well with various technical equipment and related software (Scanners, Kiosks, iPads, microphones, hearing enhancement devices (CaptiView, Fidelio), Zkipster, CodeREADr, Ticketure).
  • The drive and energy to play a key role in the success of Academy events.
  • Flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • The ability to be proactive and use independent judgement and initiative.
  • Command of the English language both verbal and written.
  • Opportunities of assisting on projects across the organization on an as needed basis.
 
Position Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • BA in Film and Media studies, film industry experience preferred.
  • Prior service experience desired with experience in working with guests in a service environment.
  • Sound, lighting, and AV experience a plus.
  • A commitment to diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion.
  • Must have a valid CA driver’s license in good standing.

 

Physical Demands:

  • Standing and sitting for multiple hours while remaining alert.
  • May require walking, stair climbing, forward bend or squatting, and moderate lifting.
  • Traverse stairways while moving throughout the event space including Theaters, Lobbies, receptions, red carpet, and sidewalks.
