Specialist, Public Access 

Description

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Public Access, the Specialist, Public Access delivers digital moving image assets for internal and external requestors, performs complex database research, catalogs digital assets created by the Public Access department, and assists the Archival Video Producer with video editing projects.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers digital moving image assets for internal and external exhibition, research, and licensing requests.
  • Works closely with Education, Programming, and Membership and Awards departments to select and deliver archival clips for Foundation and Museum programs.
  • Catalogs digital assets created by the Public Access department.
  • Conducts complex database research for loan and research requests.
  • Assists Archive Video Producer in the production of original video content.
  • Captures video content from legacy videotape formats (including but not limited to DigiBeta, BetaSP, mini-DV, Hi-8) for research and licensing requests, public programs, and online access.
  • Captures film frame enlargements for internal and external research and curatorial requests.
  • Secondary reviewer on catalog entries related to underrepresented works and individuals as part of the Academys Cultural Equity and Inclusion Project.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
Position Requirements
  • Degree in Moving Image Archival Studies or equivalent professional training.
  • Skill in using standard computer word processing and database software.
  • Excellent knowledge of digital file formats, codecs, and methods of delivery.
  • Strong understanding of file organization and disc space management.
  • Proficiency working in Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Media Encoder, and other Adobe Creative Cloud software.
  • Experience in the operation of current and legacy video formats and related viewing and editing equipment.
  • Experience in the operation of film handling viewing equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of film history.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage a complex, deadline-driven work schedule.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments.
