You will get a first hand account, and actual experience, doing many of the jobs in our department. Many of our past interns return in future summers, work part-time during the school, and join our team full time upon graduation.

PURPOSE

This is a temporary position involving various duties that permit exposure to the intern's field of study and/or provide experience that is a useful addition to the education and meaningful preparation for future professional employment.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Perform daily calls, tracking and tracing shipments.
  • Perform cold calls to transportation providers and customers.
  • Schedule loading and unloading appointments with shippers and receivers via phone or customer web portals.
  • Analyze market data and industry trends.
  • Identify leads potential customers utilizing multiple resources, including but not limited to Social Media platforms, Lead Lists, etc.…
  • Demonstrates initiative to generate solutions and provide options to known issues.
 
Position Requirements

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate, or doctorate program, preferably Business, Supply Chain Management, Accounting, etc.
  • Must be well-versed with computers, software, email, and use of technology systems.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.

 

Preferred Skills

  • Able to write clearly with excellent grammar, can articulate thoughts effectively and communicate professionally.
  • Able to prioritize and work multiple tasks simultaneously,
  • Effectively manage expectations and complete tasks without being reminded.
  • Learn quickly and own responsibility for personal development.

 

Working conditions

This position will be required to work in an office environment with moderate noise levels, and, with or without reasonable accommodation is required to:

  • Remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time.
  • Frequently operate a computer for extended periods of time and regularly operate other office productivity machines.
  • Occasionally ascend/descend stairs and move up to 20 pounds of office objects.
  • Frequently communicate with peers, supervisors, third parties, and other employees to exchange accurate information and answer questions.
  • Occasionally attend meetings in buildings outside corporate office and at off-site locations with various internal conditions and requiring travel in various external conditions.
  • Travel domestically as necessary.
