Basic Job Function:

The Talent Acquisition and Retention Specialist will have responsibility for talent acquisition and retention at The Kahala Hotel & Resort.  

 

 
Position Requirements

Essential Functions

  • Effectively communicates with Hiring Managers, Department Heads, Division Heads and Executives to best understand their recruiting needs
  • Processes requisitions/candidates, from creation of a new requisition to fulfillment of open requisitions
  • Responsible for screening candidates
  • Negotiates and extends offers of employment
  • Coordinates background and reference checks
  • Trains new managers on the recruiting and the interviewing process
  • Research, develop, propose, and execute best practices in cultivating employee engagement and present concerns and feedback to HR and/or senior leadership teams.
  • Assist in development and administration of recognition programs and tools; planning and execution of employee events and activities; and promoting the annual employee survey and professional development
  • To engage the organization, test and deliver new internal tools and ideas
  • Develop and support internal programs, including but not limited to writing, editing, preparing videos and photography, developing story ideas to promote selected activities, and special event coordination.
  • Develop and administer corporate rewards and recognition programs and provide departmental consultation on team programs to support engagement and retention goals.
  • Measure and monitor the quality and impact of internal communications activity
  • Experience using social media tools and making videos for online use
  • Familiarity with Photoshop and knowledge of web design tools a plus
  • Develops and maintains hotel communication systems such as the bulletin boards and suggestion boxes
  • HRIS internal coordinator
  • General support and assistance to the Human Resources department, company, and leadership
  • Ability to successfully collaborate and build relationships with key business partners
  • Keep HR and company leadership teams up to date on employee concerns and morale issues, while also providing recommendations for improvement and resolution
  • Completes a variety of projects/duties as assigned by the Human Resources team
  • May develop and/or update job descriptions for line and staff positions

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Excellent organization and project management skills
  • One (1) to two (2) years of experience supporting an organization providing exceptional service to customers/guest
  • Proven ability to show attention to detail
  • Experience working in a fast paced environment while efficiently managing multiple tasks
  • Ability to effectively interact both internal and external customers, as appropriate collecting accurate information and resolving conflicts
  • Knowledge of state and federal Employment and Labor Laws
  • Ability to access, understand and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system utilizing various software such as Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint and HRIS/Recruiting suites
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing

Preferred Skills and Abilities:

One (1) to two (2) years of Human Resources experience preferred

Ability to effectively speak in public

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 10 lbs

Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time

Ability to move throughout the work area while performing the essential job functions

Other Requirements:

Flexibility to work varying shifts and maintain attendance in accordance with the resort’s attendance policy

Ability to comply with resort rules and regulations including policies regarding safety and grooming standards

Education/Training Requirements:

High School Diploma or General Education Diploma required

Four (4) year college degree in Business Administration or Human Resources preferred

Licenses/Certifications:

SHRM-CP and/or PHR credential preferred
