Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Process incoming receiving and invoice approvals.
  • Develop, track and report on supplier performance metrics.
  • Enter and place purchase orders in computer and with vendors timely.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and other departments to identify purchasing needs.
  • Solicit and evaluate timely quotes and select vendors based on expectations outlined.
  • Communicate status updates and order issues appropriately. Expedite purchases as needed.
  • Ensure purchasing paperwork and computer transactions are done and maintained accurately.
  • Qualify suppliers, build and sustain strong relationships. Host supplier visits and visit supplier sites.
  • Use company ERP system to monitor inventory and orders, making adjustments and recommendations for actions.
  • Coordinate orders from initial inquiry through incoming shipment, including quoting, buying, tracking and helping resolve received material issues.
  • Source and negotiate with vendors who can supply products or services within quality, delivery, and cost specifications. Perform comparative calculations and decide or recommend decisions.
  • Responsible for customer satisfaction by procuring all parts, materials and equipment, and also outsourcing assigned projects, with a focus on quality, cost, timeliness, and optimal inventory levels.

Qualifications

  • General accounting knowledge, including Chart of Accounts.
  • Unquestionable honesty, integrity and high ethical standards.
  • Analytical, detailed and metric oriented with awareness of big picture.
  • Good use of both common sense and analytics in judgment and decision making.
  • Effective negotiation skills or training, ideally with pricing or contract related matters.
  • Strong self-initiative and personal accountability with high but reasonable expectations.
  • Professional and enthusiastic with strong self-initiative and sense of urgency for results.
  • Strong computer and business applications skills with MS Suite, Outlook, ERP/MRP systems.
  • Confident and collaborative with strong, positive communication to gain confidence at all organizational levels.
  • Technical aptitude and ability to understand, analyze, and correspond accurately about mechanical and/or electrical applications. Ideally able to read blueprints and schematics.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's Degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain, or Business preferred plus at least 1 years' experience in manufacturing, preferably with metals or machined products. APICS or other certification ideal.
