Job Summary

Directs and coordinates receiving and other warehouse processes according to established operating procedures by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide training of current and new employees in all appropriate procedures and processes required to complete work assignments.
  • Provide daily work assignments to staff and work with managers and other leads to coordinate personnel and resources as necessary to complete all work scheduled for department.
  • Assist with the design, build, and handle of wooden crates, shipping containers, and other packaging as needed.
  • Make recommendations to Engineering on how to improve product design to better meet shipment concerns and handling.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of best practices and processes for shipping operations.
  • Work with team leaders to schedule and anticipate the shipping needs for production.
  • Assist with Shipping & Receiving and basic inspection duties as needed:
    • Prepare shipments according to shipping requirements. Assemble and check orders, pack and crate, label.
    • oComplete and maintain required paperwork and inventory transactions, if needed.
    • oCheck and receive incoming deliveries against purchase orders and distribute to recipient or inventory location.
    • oAssist loading and unloading trucks as needed.
  • Create and develop standard work such as shipping checklists or other documentation to ensure customer orders are shipped complete and components are securely placed in packaging material.
  • Communicate with supervisors, other department leads operations personnel about depleting inventory, materials, and discrepancies.
  • Operate a forklift, hand truck, and crane.
  • Work effectively as a team member contributing to a positive workplace. Demonstrate company values.
  • Close work orders and make inventory adjustments on a daily basis.

Qualifications

  • Requires a general knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications including Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Requires effective oral and written communication skills in interacting with employees.
  • Requires attention to detail and accuracy skills. Self-directed, conscientious, punctual, and reliable.
  • Ability to learn quickly and understand basic technical information applicable to manufacturing.
  • Good computer skills with ERP/MRP systems, ideally Infor/Visual Manufacturing, and Microsoft applications.
  • Highly organized, excellent accuracy and attention to detail, with excellent facilitation skills to get work done.
  • Able to be interrupted and complete a variety of tasks within moderate deadlines.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills. Education and/or Experience High School graduate or equivalent plus a minimum of 5 years experience with shipping, receiving, inventory in a manufacturing environment.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties and responsibilities of this position, the employee is occasionally required to reach above shoulders. The incumbent will regularly stand, walk, sit, talk and listen, and stoop, kneel or crouch. The incumbent is frequently required to move from place to place and use hands to finger or handle. Specific vision requirements for this position include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The incumbent will occasionally be required to lift up to 10 pounds.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. There is occasional exposure to moving and mechanical parts when out in the plant environment.
