Location: Jefferson City, MO

Standard Hours: Monday to Friday; 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Duties and Responsibilities: Once trained and/or certified, the individual filling this position could be asked to perform the following tasks:

  • Perform periodic plant inspections to ensure continued compliance with all federal and state environmental and safety regulations.
  • Act as company contact for applicable federal, state, and local regulator authorities.
  • Lead company proactive safety initiatives, including plant improvement and LEAN manufacturing efforts.
  • Work closely with all staff to identity, troubleshoot, and resolve safety concerns.
  • Work closely with the Production Operations team to fully understand plant operations and how to best integrate safety solutions to the workplace.
  • Develop, coordinate, and maintain records of all applicable safety training with employees, focusing on hands-on and tailored deliverables.
  • Coordinate training curriculum, including creation, working with leadership teams to determine need, and maintain schedules.
  • Maintain records and submit applicable reporting as required by OSHA, including accident reports and injury classifications.
  • Evaluate performance of workers' compensation insurance plans from practical and financial aspects while looking for opportunities for improvement.
  • Conduct post-incident investigations to better understand how the organization can learn, grow, and ensure safe work environments for all team members.
  • Coordinate environmental plant observations, permit and regulatory compliance, and applicable record keeping and reporting for both facilities with third-party entities.
  • Corroborate with Human Resources on other duties, tasks, and special projects as a member of the People Success Team.
 
Position Requirements

Requirements:

  • Strong organizational, verbal, interpersonal, and time-management skills are required.
  • Degree from an accredited university or college in Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Safety Management, Training, or a related field is required. Equivalent work experience may be substituted for educational requirement.
  • Strong computer skills required, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to meet company requirements for operation of fleet vehicles and travel between both facilities as needed during the workday.
  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certifications preferred.

Important Skills: The following skills are necessary for long-term success in this position, but can be learned through on-the-job training for the motivated candidate:

  • If not already held, interest in and ability to obtain relevant certifications, including Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP), and Visible Opacity Reading.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with varied audiences via different methods, including written documentation, presentations, and interpersonal conversations.
  • Coordinate and manage concurrent projects while ensuring appropriate record keeping for compliance, overall success, and return on investment evaluation.
