Shop Manager (Bluffdale, UT)

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for overseeing the condition of all fleet vehicles as well as management of materials and equipment, overall facility maintenance, and inventory control.

Also includes:

  • Shipping & Receiving
  • Create & Receive Purchase Orders 
  • Purchasing Materials for ALL jobs
  • Working with Vendors regarding material availablity and price increases
  • Monthly inventory of materials
  • Fleet repair scheduling 
  • Purchasing parts for trucks
  • Year end DOT inspections and registrations
  • Forklift experience a plus, but we can train and certify

Salaried position 80K+ depending on experience and qualifications.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs vehicle and equipment inspections and mechanical assessments and takes appropriate actions to assure good working order
  • Develops relationships with vendors and arranges for cost effective repairs to equipment and vehicles supporting business needs
  • Completes work-orders accurately and records the work performed.
  • Reviews vendor work orders for accuracy and completion.
  • Oversees and participates in warehouse, shop and yard inspections and responsible for cleanliness and upkeep.
  • Keeps assigned work area clean and organized.
  • Maintains inventory levels of material, equipment and other items needed for field operations employees and arranges for all ordering and receiving of materials.
  • Responsible for assuring materials are certified and appropriate records are kept up to date.
  • Informs Branch Management of any parts that are damaged, in need of replacement, or are unsafe.
  • Prepare materials and equipment for operations employees, and may be responsible for loading and securing loads.
  • Train and supervise shop help

 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works in compliance with established safety policies & procedures
  • Works with vendors on cost improvement initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Branch Management.
 
Position Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds several times per day, unaided.
  • Ability to push or pull 50 pounds several times per day, unaided.
  • Ability to climb over and into heavy equipment several times per day.
  • Ability to walk and stand on concrete and uneven surfaces for at least 4 hours.
  • Ability to bend or kneel and work with arms lifted for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to work around machines with moving parts and petroleum or chemical-based products, in excessive heat and cold. Ability to wear protective gear where required.
  • Ability to display basic knowledge of DOT requirements as it relates to company fleet.
  • Ability to work extended or standby hours on an “on call” basis.

 

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience working in shop supervisory roles
  • Must possess a basic understanding of hydraulic and electrical systems,
  • Must have driver license with a good driving record. CDL is a plus.
  • Must be able to operate basic hand tools
  • Experience operating construction equipment is a plus.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a drug test and DOT physical.
  • Must display basic computer skills.
  • Industry equipment knowledge is preferred
