As an Outpatient Medical Coder, you will perform outpatient coding for one of our valued clients.Our dedicated employees enjoy the collaboration and recognition of working in small teams to support our amazing clients. Job Responsibilities Reviews medical record documentation and assigns ICD-10-CM and CPT, HCPCS, CPT modifier, and E&M codes supported by medical record documentation. Understands APC reimbursement methodology and medical necessity for ambulatory care. Understands and compliantly applies NCCI edits. Utilizes our clients electronic medical record (EMR), encoder, and computer-assisted coding (CAC) software as directed. Ensures optimal reimbursement while maintaining compliance with CMS and third-party payor policies and guidelines. Maintains compliance with eCatalyst and clients coding policies, procedures, and guidelines. Abstracts pertinent information from the medical record, per client guidelines. Consistently maintains 95% or above accuracy rate while meeting established productivity standards. Completes coding continuing education and maintains coding credentials. Attends and participates in eCatalyst and client meetings as requested. Completes daily production log and daily time keeping requirements. Ensures HIPAA compliance at all times. Proficiency in multiple EMR’s, encoders, and the Microsoft Office suite. Excellent knowledge of payor and CMS coding guidelines. Educated in HIPAA regulations; must maintain strict confidentiality of patient Protected Health Information (PHI). Consistently achieves quality and productivity standards. Excellent medical terminology knowledge. Ability to organize and complete work in a timely manner. Ability to read, write and effectively communicate in English.
