Description

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The Full-time Mental Health Therapist will provide care in an integrated setting that includes direct client service and collaborative efforts with other community providers to provide a comprehensive, sustainable approach to care delivery for individuals, families and the Stockbridge community. The Therapist will be required to maintain compliance with Stockbridge-Munsee policies and procedures, State of Wisconsin regulations and Indian Health Service standards of care.

SUPERVISION AND GUIDANCE

The Mental Health Therapist works under the direct supervision of the clinic’s Behavioral Health Manager.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT

Licensure in Mental Health required. Dual licensure in Mental Health and Substance Abuse preferred

STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS

All employees of Stockbridge Munsee Community must meet the following qualification:

  1. Must submit to and pass a pre-employment drug and health screening.
  2. Must be at least 18 years of age, unless otherwise stated on job description
  3. Must maintain an acceptable departmental attendance record
  4. Must be able to work weekends, nights and holidays
  5. Must obtain and maintain Elder/Youth License as stated on job description
  6. Must be COVID 19 fully vaccinated and remain up to date with required doses.

DUTIES

  1. Provide Psychotherapy and Substance Abuse treatment, using strength-based approach to individuals, families, and couples along the developmental life span including children and adolescents.

  2. Provide co-occurring mental health/substance abuse intake, treatment planning, intervention, case management and crisis intervention for complex clients across the lifespan.

  3. Work as a team member with other providers in an integrated setting by collaborating with other providers and attending weekly staffing.

  4. Build working relationships with primary care providers, Psychiatrists, Coordinated Services Team, Indian Child Welfare, family services, school counselors and other disciplines.

  5. Make referrals to outside professionals and/or agencies within available resources.

  6. Diagnose and treat a full spectrum of mental health and substance abuse disorders using an integrated approach to treat clients with co-occurring disorders.

  7. Provide care while demonstrating clinical competency in a variety of therapeutic methods such as Cognitive Behavioral, Supportive, Systemic, Psycho-educational, Solution Focused and other customary and usual approaches.

  8. Manage Interactive Telehealth clients as needed.

  9. Provide treatment with knowledge of trauma-based conditions and related therapeutic methods.

  10. Must demonstrate cultural competency.

  11. Provide EAP and behavioral health consultation or training to other tribal programs as needed.

  12. Attend trainings and meetings required by Stockbridge-Munsee Health and Wellness Center and maintain continuing education requirements required for licensure.

  13. Must maintain an acceptable departmental attendance record.

  14. Must be reliable and prompt when reporting to work.

  15. Required to attend job related, in-service, meetings, and training to maintain professional competency and technical knowledge.

  16. Must adhere to tribal law and other applicable laws as well as tribal personnel policies and procedures.

  17. May be required to satisfactorily complete an exam or other testing requirement(s) to determine skill proficiency.

  18. The above duties and responsibilities are not an all-inclusive list but rather a general representation of the duties and responsibilities associated with this position. The duties and responsibilities will be subject to change based on organizational needs and/or deemed necessary by the supervisor.

 
Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Requires Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling or other related field.

  2. Requires WI Licensure as a Clinical Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist or Professional Counselor granted through the WI Department of Regulation and Licensing. (Professional Counselor Training License will be considered.)

  3. Requires Certified Substance Abuse Counselor licensure or willingness to obtain Substance Abuse Specialist credential within 2 years of hire.

  4. Must be free from substance abuse problems for a minimum of 3 years.

  5. Experience in providing Outpatient behavioral health services.

  6. Knowledge of and sensitivity to Native American mental health/substance abuse issues and ability to provide culturally affirming services.

  7. Ability to provide mental health services to clients across the life span using developmentally appropriated methods.

  8. Ability to provide mental health services to complex clients with a broad range of presenting issues.

  9. Ability to perform all aspects of family-based treatment and case management.

  10. Ability to communicate clearly in written and oral forms.

  11. Ability to demonstrated competence with word processing and other computer programs as needed to maintain client records and data.

  12. Must submit and pass a background security check to meet the Elder/Youth License Requirement as it pertains to the position and the location of the

    department prior to and during the course of employment with the Stockbridge-Munsee Community.

  13. Must maintain strict confidentiality.

  14. Must be willing to attend all applicable training.

  15. Must pass pre-employment drug and health screening. Must adhere to the Tribe’s Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace Policy during the course of employment.

  16. Must be eligible for coverage under the employer’s liability insurance.

  17. Must have demonstrated ability to maintain satisfactory working record in any prior or current employment.

  18. Must be able to meet physical requirements of position.

  19. Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and insurance are required. Must obtain a Wisconsin driver’s license within 30 days of employment if applicant has an out-of-state driver’s license. Must meet and maintain the eligibility to operate a personal or tribal vehicle under the driver acceptability guidelines as established by Mohican Nation Insurance.

  20. Must abide by departmental and organizational safety, testing, and uniform guidelines

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

  1. This position requires a lot of sitting with occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds.

  2. Evening and/or weekend is required. Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.

  3. Work environment requires excellent personal hygiene due to working in close proximity to others and in an enclosed area.

  4. A Tuberculosis (TB) Screening and/or TB Skin Test may be required.
