We are seeking qualified applicants with six months to one year of retail customer service, cash-handling, and computer experience to join our amazing Retail team. Familiarity with the Desert Museum is a plus. Availability to work weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings is essential since these are our peak visitation days. Reserve Status positions are non-benefited and may work, on average, 18 hours or less per week. Job Title: Guest Services Assistant- Retail Department: Retail/Operations Reports To: Retail Sales Supervisor FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, 8 -18 hours per week
Summary: The Guest Services Assistant-Retail provides outstanding service and plays an integral role in contributing to the mission of the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. The position is flexible and accommodates ever-changing business needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively communicate with the general public using guest friendly language.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with challenges involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills: General knowledge of retail POS and/or CRM systems or the ability to learn and develop functional use of systems.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: None required.
Other Skills and Abilities: Thorough knowledge of retail operations, guest service, sales through service, and cash handling skills.
Physical Demands:
Work Environment: Primarily an office and retail store setting. Occasional exposure to extreme outdoor weather conditions. Moderate noise levels.
