Advancement Services Manager 


The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures furthers the understanding, celebration, and preservation of cinema through inclusive and accessible exhibitions, screenings, programs, initiatives, and collections. Welcoming visitors from Los Angeles and around the world, the Museum works in active partnership with motion picture artists and specialists, scholars, staff, and diverse communities to contextualize and challenge dominant narratives around cinema, inspiring discourse, connection, joy, and discovery.

Reporting to the Vice President of Advancement, the Manager of Advancement Services will be responsible for prospect management and research with an emphasis on supporting the Museum's strategic fundraising initiatives. This role will oversee all aspects of gift administration within the Advancement department.

You Will:

  • Identify, pre-qualify, and conduct detailed prospect research.
  • Build prospect management program and partners with the Gifts team to advance prospects and fundraising initiatives via a "moves management" system.
  • Develop research strategies to build a donor prospect pool and database.
  • Research philanthropic capabilities of potential prospects.
  • Supervise data management and data integrity.
  • Develop database policies, procedures, and training for department users.
  • Supervise accurate records for major gifts prospects including prospect ratings.
  • Supervise the creation of all advancement-related forms, including pledge reminders and gift forms.
  • Oversee all aspects of gift administration, including Museum memberships, gift invoicing, and acknowledgment generation and signature process.
  • Conduct database inquiries and produce lists to support cultivation activities to identify potential prospects.
  • In partnership with VP, Advancement, manage pipeline review process with Advancement team, as well as individual portfolio review for relevant Advancement staff.
  • Work closely with IT, Membership, and Visitor Experience Teams to properly manage and track donor data.
  • Review online alerts and subscription services for up-to-date information regarding prospects and donors.
  • Ensure the provision of accurate and timely data to the Advancement team and Museum leadership.
  • Develop and distribute prospect management reports.
  • Assist with fundraising activities, including donor events.
  • Manage Advancement Services Assistant and Specialist.
Position Requirements

You Have:

  • A bachelor's degree is required.
  • 5+ years of experience in an Advancement role.
  • The highest degree of professionalism and discretion in dealing with donor information.
  • A commitment to diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion.
  • Flexibility to work occasionally on evenings and weekends.
