Description

The product quality engineer is responsible for interfacing with sales and service site personnel, to escalate & get field/customer issues resolved. The role will require directly liaising with engineering, quality, manufacturing plant, service, part return centers, to escalate, triage, root cause and manage field quality issues to resolution. This position is directly responsible for providing timely feedback and report out on all activities to management and stakeholders.

RESPONSIBILITIES & KEY ACTIVITIES:

  • As a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Vehicle Module - _____________________, lead technical discussions with manufacturing plant in Asia and engineering team in Australia while driving timely response and completion of systematic problem solving.
  • Interface, investigate and assist in the completion of corrective actions and drive continuous improvement initiatives on NPI products.
  • Support and sometimes lead conference calls between all parties to resolve issues.
  • Assure compliance with technical and organizational requirements. This includes sharing, uploading and maintaining information in warranty & issue management systems.
  • Have good understanding of NHTSA standards, Lemon Law and QMS.
  • Possess working knowledge of Dealer Management System (DMS) with ability to mine quality data into presentable form.
  • Report, track and maintain KPIs as defined by the QMS.
  • Participate and/or lead quality initiatives associated with new vehicle launch process, NPI process and early detection warning strategy and reflash activities.
  • Collaborate with field quality engineer on-site to support and resolve quality or delivery related issues. Lead containment and corrective actions as required and keep and maintain clear records of such events.
  • Generate reports, summaries and presentations into presentable form shareable with executive management as required.
  • Lead quality engineering initiatives as necessary in part recovery and vehicle condition reports.
  • Willingness to travel 25~40% of the time initially within territory as required to fulfill job responsibilities, sometimes with minimal notice.
 
Position Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering required.
  • 5+ years of practical experience in automotive engineering and quality engineering with understanding of standards and procedures.
  • Experienced in production support in a technical or manufacturing environment.
  • Requires good overall technical background with an understanding of electrical engineering, mechanical and software engineering with a focus on vehicle module – ____________________.
  • Good teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent critical thinking and good communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, results driven, able to work with/without supervision.
