GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Vision: Leading a relational approach toward accomplishing current and future strategic goals by utilizing storytelling, partnership, and community organizing methodologies to identify, pursue, maintain, mentor, and expand relationships with the Cornerstone fund’s internal and external collaborators. This position will have shared responsibility for delivering outcomes outlined in the Cornerstone Fund Strategic Plan by working with the CEO, CLO, Staff, Board of Directors, and Marketing Team to accomplish goals. Especially:

Goal 1: Offer products and services to effectively meet congregation and community needs

  1. Develop product and service offerings that align with different market segments and client needs.

Goal 2: Position Cornerstone Fund as a premier resource for mission-driven investors and borrowers:

      A. Strengthen relationships with Conference staff.

Goal 3: Collaborate to maximize Impact and Reach to Build Community and all three related strategies:

  1. Actively seek out partnerships that promote racial equity
  2. Partner and communicate effectively with UCC financial ministries, Conference staff, and other church extension funds; and
  3. Maximize relationships with other organizations to help expand CF’s capacity

Goal 4: Engage high-quality talent with equity and inclusion.

The CRO will work to increase the relational capacity of the Cornerstone Fund to know the needs of its partners and clients, be in communication with area organizers, and continually align strategy and implementation with vision and values. The CRO will both listen deeply to stories of the organization as well as help current staff continue to shape the story and communicate the direct, inspirational impact the Cornerstone Fund has.

Working collaboratively the CRO will identify specific metrics and measurables as related to the Strategic Plan Goals. Define what relationship centered looks like, how we measure it, and when we have been successful. Celebrate success.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Institutions:

  • Initiating, maintaining, and deepening relationships with all the various UCC related organizations (including conferences, other financial ministries, CCM, AACM, HUGs, etc). Attend various conference annual meetings and other related gatherings.
  • Work with the National Setting on creating multi-discipline response teams to aid churches in discerning strategic plans
  • Partner, build, and clarify relationships with the UCC financial ministries and other church extension funds
  • Initiating, maintaining, and deepening relationships with resources and referral sources such as the Jubilee Fund, Bricks & Mortals, Church Consultants, Developers, Strategic planning and Capital Raising providers
  • Identify new partners that increase the capacity of Cornerstone Fund

 

Congregations/Clients:

  • Initiating, maintaining, and deepening relationships with local congregations, church related organizations, and individual leaders. Pursue a robust calendar of one-to-one relational/outreach meetings.
  • Represent the Cornerstone Fund at various congregation centered meetings and events as requested.

 

Internal:

  • Support staff wellness, satisfaction, and retention through intentional relationship development amongst the staff. Forge relational elasticity, increasing capacity for adaptive change as needed. Promote fun, happiness, wellness and connection.
  • Provide direction and guidance as needed to Fund Administrator on various projects and tasks.

 

Desired Candidate Profile:

  • Proven track record of organizational transformation through relationship building
  • Knowledge of UCC polity and organizational structure
  • Healthy existing relationships with those serving in the UCC National Setting; Conferences and their staff; other denominational leaders
  • Compelling public speaker
  • Ability to adjust style based on audience
  • Theologically reflective and able to communicate a theological foundation of the Cornerstone’s vision and mission when building relationships

Knowledge of the fundamental concepts of Investing and Borrowing.

 
Position Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform successfully in this position:

  • College degree; Advanced degree a plus
  • At least six years’ experience in relationship building work and methodologies, either in a concentrated geography or across and broad area.
  • Knowledge of Community Development methodologies and approaches
  • Basic understanding of the policies and procedures required in the banking/lending industry
  • Understanding of Microsoft Office suite, particularly PowerPoint & Excel
  • Willingness and ability to travel for site visits and meetings as needed.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with individuals and groups of diverse backgrounds, experience, and levels of sophistication.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and collegially, as well as independently.
  • Ability and willingness to work in a diverse and inclusive ministry environment, and willingness to honor the UCC denominational culture.

LOCATION: This position is offered with the possibility of deployment. Relocation to Cleveland will not be necessary.
