DESCRIPTION

Job Purpose: The VP of Human Resources carries out the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department. The VP of Human Resources carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: departmental development, HR information systems, employee relations, compensation, organizational development, and employment law.

Job Duties:

  • Development and administration of programs, procedures, and guidelines to help align the multi-state, hybrid workforce with the strategic goals of the company.
  • Developing department goals, objectives, and systems.
  • Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars.
  • Establish departmental measurements that support the accomplishment of the companys strategic goals.
  • Manages the development and maintenance of the Human Resources sections of the Internet, culture and company information, and Intranet sites.
  • Manages employee-related databases. Prepares and analyzes reports that are necessary to carry out the functions of the department and the company. Prepares periodic reports for management, as necessary or requested.
  • Manages and develops employee engagement activities.
  • Partners with management to communicate Human Resources policies, procedures, programs and laws.
  • Recommends employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship.
  • Participates in the conduct of investigations when employee complaints or concerns are brought forth.
  • Advises managers and supervisors about the steps in the progressive discipline system of the company. Counsels managers on employment issues.
  • Develops procedures for complying with all existing governmental and labor legal and government reporting requirements including any related to the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FLMA), Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), the Department of Labor, worker compensation, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and so forth. Maintains minimal company exposure to lawsuits.
  • Protects the interests of employees and the company in accordance with company Human Resources policies and governmental laws and regulations.
  • Directs and manages the implementation of the Learning Management System that includes performance development plans and employee development programs.
  • Directs and manages the carrying out of a company-wide process or organization development that addresses issues such as succession planning, superior workforce development, key employee retention, organization design, and change management.
  • Directs and manages employee communication and feedback through such avenues as company meetings, suggestion programs, employee satisfaction surveys, newsletters, employee focus groups, one-on-one meetings, and Intranet use.
  • Helps monitor the organizational culture so that it supports the attainment of the companys goals and promotes employee satisfaction.
  • Directs and manages the company-wide committees including the wellness, training, environmental health and safety, activity, and culture communication committees.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: From $85,000.00 per year

Position Requirements

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Skills/Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of HR Leadership experience with a company over 500 FTE required
  • Extensive knowledge of employment laws and practices
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft/Windows environment (must include Excel). Must be able to demonstrate skills in database management and recordkeeping
  • Effective oral and written communication
  • Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills
  • Evidence of the practice of high level confidentiality
  • Excellent organizational skills

 

Education:

  • High school or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Business, or Organizational Development or equivalent preferred, but not required.
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification preferred, but not required.

 

Additional Eligibility Requirements:

  • Work Authorization/Security Clearance (if applicable)
  • Background Check
  • U.S. Citizen or
  • Work Visa

 

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Must be able to reliably commute or be planning to relocate before starting work, to Exeter, NH 03833 (Required)

 

Experience:

  • HR Leadership: 5 years (Required)
  • HR at company with 500+ employees: 5 years (Required)
  • Government contracting: 1 year (Preferred)

 

License/Certification:

  • SHRM Certified Professional (Preferred)

 

Work Location:

  • Hybrid - WFH: Monday, Thursday, Friday. In-office: in Exeter, NH on Tuesday & Wednesday.
