The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures advances the understanding, celebration, and preservation of cinema through inclusive and accessible exhibitions, screenings, programs, initiatives, and collections. Welcoming visitors from Los Angeles and around the world, the museum works in active partnership with motion picture artists and specialists, scholars, staff, and diverse communities to contextualize and challenge dominant narratives around cinema, inspiring discourse, connection, joy, and discovery.

Reporting to the Director of Community and Impact, the Community and Impact Manager will build and sustain relationships with community members, officials, and other non-profit organizations. These relationships are critical to fulfilling our mission and the Museum being a place of dialogue and co-creation with community members. You will also develop new processes, establish partnerships, create community engagement opportunities, plan events, field requests from community members and partner organizations, and lead cross-departmental initiatives.

You Will:

  • Establish an iterative practice of community engagement in collaboration with the Director of Board and Community Relations.
  • Develop, implement, and manage creative and impactful community partnerships, programs, and events that represent the museum favorably and make positive and measurable contributions to the community.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community members, officials, and organizations.
  • Work with departments across the organization on community-related projects.
  • Develop, measure, and report data analysis for community impact including data collection, analysis, metrics, tracking of participants, and generating reports for museum stakeholders, with a focus to track performance and ensure impact among targeted communities.
  • Work both independently and as a member of a team.
 
Position Requirements

You Have:

  • 3+ years’ experience leading member and/or talent relations at a non-profit organization or related organization.
  • 5+ years’ experience working collaboratively with a team and motivating staff.
  • Project management and planning skills.
  • Experience budgeting and tracking spending.
  • A commitment to diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion.
