FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Wage: $17.86- $18.57

Summary of Position: The Resident Assistant is responsible for the supervision of all aspects of client services and house management within the CWC campus. This individual communicates effectively with staff and oversees clients and volunteers while working to maintain a clean, safe and healing environment for all.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

Key Result Area #1: Administration of CWC Resident Services

  • Consistently hold residents accountable to the CWC Program Resident Policy and Procedures
  • Provide over-the-counter med calls as needed, evaluate medical emergencies in the absence of the medical coordinator, and care for the minor medical needs of the residents.
  • Record all medications and over-the-counter, non-prescribed items checked in by the residents.
  • Administer random Urinalysis (UA) and breathalyzer (BA) tests as assigned.
  • Follow and complete procedures as documented in the RA manual and the daily shift checklist.
  • Carry out exit of residents in a compassionate manner that shows concern for their eternal best interests and follow up with exit checklist
  • Complete components of intake process as assigned
  • Execute all assigned computer tasks with competency including, but not limited to, Outlook, Excel, One Note and Word
  • Utilize phone system, intercom, copier, printer and fax machine
  • Maintain monthly statistics and reports on all CWC resident population
  • Organize and restock supplies in all areas of Resident Services
  • Submit RFM’s (Request for Maintenance) to appropriate facility department leaders
  • Keep a standard of excellence for the overall cleanliness of CWC
  • Complete any other tasks assigned by the Resident Services Coordinator

 

Key Result Area #2: Communication

  • Document key events of assigned shift through One Note and/or DIP process
  • Daily track and monitor resident pass and exception forms.
  • All crucial information will be passed onto the oncoming shift
  • One Note will be consistently used to communicate clearly and effectively among the RA team
  • E-mail appropriate staff, in DIP form, to keep them informed of situations in the house and share insights from conversations with residents
  • Attend and participate in the following scheduled meetings: CWC All Staff, UGM All Staff and RA Department
  • Will routinely stay informed of daily activities on campus
  • Participate in the Outcome Based Management Process including SWOT’s, PDP’s, and one-on-one meetings.
  • Will submit all IT and phone help requests to helpdesk@uniongospelmission.org and respond to follow-up requests as needed

 

Key Result Area #3: Maintain a Safe & Healing Environment

  • Serve residents with humility, respect and dignity
  • Ensure campus security by using Radius cameras and completing perimeter checks
  • Monitor residents and visitors coming and going from campus according to pass restrictions
  • Lead, gently but confidently, in the midst of crisis/emergency situations
  • Embrace and teach our grace-based philosophy of ministry
  • Perform room checks, room searches, and car searches as needed
  • Hold healthy boundaries with residents, staff and volunteers
  • Complete a safety orientation and observe protocol for emergencies.
  • Participate in UGM’s best practices of addressing and resolving conflict among team members, volunteers, and residents

 

 Skills & Qualifications:

  • Committed Christian, able and willing to model servant-leadership and interested in being part of a ministry for the poor, homeless, drug addicted and mentally ill. Grounded in the Christian faith as a mature, active member of the body of Christ. In accordance with Union Gospel Mission Statement of Purpose, Statement of Vision and Statement of Faith.
  • Strong Interpersonal skills - exercise compassion and discernment while modeling the teachings of Jesus Christ.
  • Will honor the leadership, chain of command, and standards and ministry objectives of Union Gospel Mission as a unified team member
  • Know and able to communicate and embrace UGM’s cultural Core Values and their indicators. The Core Values are applied and observed
  • Minimum 3 years of sobriety, if in recovery.
  • Computer literate with a high proficiency using Word, Excel, Outlook; able to complete documents, reports and accurately record information.
  • Excellent communication skills: written, oral, and instructional.
  • Must have a teachable spirit and the ability to manage multiple emotional and task related variables, listen, and make sound decisions in alignment with UGM’s purpose.
  • Insightful, trustworthy, honest, reliable, model appropriate boundaries and strong work ethic.
  • Valid Washington or Idaho driver’s license – required.
  • CPR/First Aid certification – recommended.
  • Yearly TB clearance – required.
  • Criminal background check clearance – required.

 

Working Conditions/ Physical Factors:

Occasionally = 1%-33%; Frequently = 34%-66%; Continuously = 67%-100%

  • Requires working with a diverse population, many of whom struggle with homelessness, addiction and mental illness – continuously.
  • Work is primarily indoors. It requires climbing stairs, walking, sitting, standing, bending, and reaching - continuously.
  • Requires a sustained level of high energy, stamina, and the ability to move about the house on a regular and ongoing basis – continuously.
  • Requires the ability to hear, see, and speak clearly – continuously.

Position Requirements

Education/ Experience:

  • High school diploma/GED.
  • Preferable two years experience working with low-income population.
  • Knowledge of chemical dependency addictions and process addictions
  • Ability to recognize active use and misuse of legal or illicit substances

 

Requirement:
