Job Summary

Plans, directs, and supervises staff (skilled, semiskilled, and unskilled trade personnel) efforts to effectively complete activities related to daily operations (repairs, maintenance, security/safety) at all Yellowhawk facilities/properties. The Facilities Manager is responsible for building and grounds maintenance, construction projects and the installation and maintenance of equipment. All duties and responsibilities will be performed in accordance with the Yellowhawk Mission and Vision statements, policies and relevant laws.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Organize and/or conduct safety education programs for maintenance and custodial employees, providing certification when applicable.
  2. Reviews work orders submitted by staff. Prioritizes and assigns work to staff; ensures repairs to buildings, equipment or grounds that create potential hazards for patients and staff are addressed first.
  3. Locates, inspects, troubleshoots and initiates repairs.
  4. Manages all activities related to the maintenance of the physical plant which includes painting, snow removal, grounds work, drywall, roofing, electrical, light plumbing and other repairs as necessary.
  5. Purchases materials and equipment required for maintenance repairs; ensures products and services are purchased cost effectively.
  6. Leads preventive maintenance efforts tied to cleaning and servicing induction unit filters, bed side rails, fire pumps and generators.
  7. Monitors compliance with preventive maintenance program for HVAC equipment; makes daily rounds.
  8. Ensures monthly equipment safety checks are completed; follows-up to ensure that issues identified during safety checks are repaired.
  9. Receives all new equipment; ensures all equipment is inspected and ensures pertinent information recorded and put into service. Observes all requirements, codes and regulations for all bodies having jurisdiction.
  10. Provide training for custodial and maintenance staff to ensure safe practices in clinic exam rooms and patient areas, and to ensure that discarded medical supplies are handled and disposed of in accordance with protocol appropriate for medical clinic operations.
  11. Provide information on safety policies, regulations, and programs as an orientation procedure for new custodial and maintenance employees.
  12. Assist in investigation of any accidents that may require changes in engineering controls.
  13. Ensure appropriate security for Yellowhawk at all times including the maintenance of locks and keys for Yellowhawk employees, contractors and visitors.
  14. Ensure proper storage, use and disposal of cleaning supplies, chemical and any poisonous, toxic or other potentially harmful materials used or disposed of by housekeeping, maintenance, or contractors.
  15. Maintain Material Safety Data Sheets [MSDS] for chemicals used as designated by OSHA.
  16. Coordinate periodic fire and safety inspections of Yellowhawk.
  17. Oversee or conduct appropriate staff training and Code Red drills to meet compliance requirements for Yellowhawk AAAHC Accreditation.
  18. Manage the emergency closure procedure/plan and keep updated. Serve as the initial contact for emergency closures.
  19. Advises Chief Executive Officer of hazardous deficiencies and corrective actions to be taken.
  20. Budget development and management for Yellowhawk facilities, maintenance and repairs.
  21. Procure supplies and services for facility management and repair.
  22. Maintain adequate inventory of supplies in the housekeeping area.
  23. Maintenance of and training on housekeeping and maintenance equipment.
  24. Coordinates maintenance and repairs on various equipment and systems including, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing, fire protection, mechanical and electrical in conjunction with contract services.
  25. Ensures that building maintenance is facilitated in regard to, but not limited to, repair of walls, ceiling, lights, fixtures, non-medical furniture, windows and other miscellaneous repairs.
  26. Maintains the entire facility and annexed building sanitation, security and safety at all times in consideration of patients and staff.
  27. All other duties as assigned.
 
Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree with two years of experience related to facilities management;

OR

Associate’s degree with three years of experience related to the facilities management AND completion of an accredited vocational-training or construction-training program related to facilities management;

OR

High School Diploma or Journeyman status in any field, with an equivalent combination of education, training, certification(s) and experience.

  1. Demonstrate one (1) year of successful supervisory experience.
  2. Demonstrated knowledge of general building systems and operations.
  3. Demonstrated ability to read blueprints and technical materials.
  4. Demonstrated knowledge of building codes, sanitary codes and OSHA regulations.
  5. Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office programs and other office equipment (i.e., computers, printers, scanners) to meet the needs of the program.
  6. Demonstrated communication skills, both verbally and written.
  7. Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain insurance requirements to operate General Services Administration vehicles.
  8. Must submit to and pass a reference and criminal background check.
  9. Must submit to and pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
  10. Must submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Maintenance experience in a health care facility setting.

2. OSHA 10 certification.
