Description

The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures furthers the understanding, celebration, and preservation of cinema through inclusive and accessible exhibitions, screenings, programs, and collections. Welcoming visitors from Los Angeles and around the world, the Museum works in active partnership with motion picture artists and specialists, scholars, staff, and diverse communities to contextualize and challenge dominant narratives around cinema, inspiring discourse, connection, joy, and discovery.

Reporting to the Events Audio/Visual Manager, the Coordinator will be responsible for assisting in the management of technical operations and media production for all non-exhibition and non-theatrical audio/visual experiences at the Museum. This includes support in event and meeting spaces across our unique campus, as well as supplemental support for events taking place inside the Museum theaters.

You Will:

  • Support all audio/visual technical needs for non-exhibition and non-theatrical programs.
  • Liaise with internal and external space users to determine audiovisual requirements and execution of events.
  • Collaborate with vendors to provide additional event audio/visual equipment and lighting for large scale events.
  • Support telecommunications for internal meetings including zoom/other conferencing software.
  • Support live-streaming implementation.
  • Ensure all internal and external audio/visual presentations run as planned.
  • Support the ongoing maintenance of all audio/visual equipment.
  • Prepare and implement in-house lighting, audio, and video equipment.
  • Support setup/strike of presentations.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
 
Position Requirements

You Have:

  • Strong knowledge of state-of-the-industry lighting, audio, live recording, and video equipment.
  • Experience with A/V over IT and digital media editing for broadcast, including live streaming.
  • Experience with multi-camera shoots and video editing technologies.
  • Experience with basic setup and calibration of conference room projector systems.
  • Experience in customer service as it relates to museums, theaters, or cultural attractions is a plus, but not required.
  • Ability to create basic lighting designs for public programs and events.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate lighting and audio consoles.
  • Excellent problem solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to translate complex technological jargon into simple terms for non-technical staff.
  • Familiarity with guiding others through operational tasks.
  • Comfortable communication and cooperation with guests, supervisors, peers, vendors, or partners.
  • Comfort in occasionally working alone and unsupervised.
  • Ability to work in high-volume and fast-paced situations.
  • Ability to lift and/or move a minimum of 30 pounds.
  • Ability to conceive, plan and reach goals.
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn.

  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and short notice events.
