Description

This is a highly responsible sales position involving prospecting, selling, planning, scheduling, coordinating and execution of Bold Catering & Design (BCD) catered events. The Sales Manager works under the direct supervision of the Director of Sales. The Sales Manager must maintain a high level of daily selling activity (personal visits, prospecting calls, relational selling, outside appointments, lead generation etc.) ensuring the ability to consistently meet and exceed BCD sales objectives.

This position requires excellent organizational skills, and an understanding of the overall operations of the catering business. The employee must have exceptional people skills and possess the ability to effectively communicate with colleagues and clients. In addition, the Sales Manager must exercise considerable initiative, independent judgment, diplomacy, flexibility and discretion in the performance of assigned duties. The Sales Manager should possess the passion to connect with and satisfy the needs of their client's company and build a mutually productive and on-going relationship. They should express a desire to be part of their client's company as a supplier of their catering & design needs.

Reporting Structure

The Sales Manager reports directly to the Director of Sales.

Sales

  • Responsible for solicitation and booking of BC&D events and event accounts in specifically assigned market segments and/or geographic areas.
  • Responsible for aggressive prospecting including obtaining leads and making cold calls to prospective clients, as well as organizing traces for follow-up
  • Responsible for developing a client base resulting in maximum repeat business.
  • Develop strategic relationships to generate referral business.
  • Responsible for consistently meeting prospecting goals
  • Clear understanding of and ability to express BC&D company identity, concept, position, and event value and options.
  • Full knowledge of BC&D food and beverage products.
  • Must have basic understanding of FOH operational procedures.
  • Must have complete knowledge of King Plow Arts Center (KPAC) capabilities and represent BC&D and KPAC on all site inspections of the facility.
  • Responsible for fielding all self-generated leads and responding within 24 hours.
  • Responsible for scheduling appointments and coordinating meetings to discuss details and requirements for events. Effectively communicate with client on all specifications for their event.
  • Responsible for scheduling and executing site tours and inspections.
  • Provide client with innovative and timely proposals exhibiting thorough knowledge of their needs as pertains to menu selections, beverage preferences, budget and all aspects of event design.
  • Responsible for developing a client base resulting in new business each year and maximum repeat business.
  • Responsible for proposing cost effective, profitable menus.
  • Responsible for writing and pricing contracts.
  • Responsible for demonstrating skills and ability to close on sales in accordance with BC&D expectations, standards and policies.
  • Responsible for securing all deposits and payments associated with BC&D contracts and following up with clients regarding A/R and overdue balances.
  • Cultivate and establish strategic relationships with top accounts, targeted accounts and referring sources, through regularly scheduled follow-up and appointments.
  • Responsible for consistently meeting and, eventually, exceeding weekly, monthly and annual budgeted sales objectives.
  • Responsible for reporting on all production and sales forecasting and other information requested by the management team on a weekly basis.
  • Represent Bold Events in promotional events and actively participate in Professional Organizations by networking - goal to be determined each year.
  • Be knowledgeable of profit and loss statements with regard to cost of sales and budgeted mark ups.

Operations

  • Responsible for miscellaneous services (including but not limited to: florals, valet parking, audio-visual equipment, cakes, linens, tables and chairs, staging) through effective communication with Event Coordinator.
  • Keep other departments informed with timely detailed event contracts, accurate and updated information and clear communication lines.
  • Attend General, Sales department and individual sales meetings.
  • Responsible for attending and previewing all events with FOH operations, greeting clients and ensuring accurate interpretation of client expectations and overall client satisfaction.

Position Requirements
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written correspondence skills, and listening skills)
  • Excellent collaborative skills.
  • Minimum of (5) years experience in hospitality or related industry.
  • Basic computer skills required including Microsoft Office.
  • Self-sufficient administrative skills.
  • Basic understanding of FOH & BOH event industry operational procedures.
  • Knowledge and experience with space planning for a variety of venues and room configurations.
  • Remains abreast of current trends in design and events industry
  • Competent in all aspects of the sales process:
  • Understanding the company’s identity
  • Prospecting and obtaining qualified leads.

  • Writing and pricing proposals & contracts
  • Closing sales

  • On-going event/client management
  • Post-event/client follow-up
