About the Organization  

Bore Locator I Job Description:

This is a critical support position for a busy utility construction company operating throughout New Mexico. As a Bore Locator I, daily work will involve verifying underground utility markings for excavation purposes. The Bore Locator will work in different types of construction zones (grass, gravel, and ditches) including residential and commercial projects.

Bore Locator I Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Competent in operating direction drill locating systems such as F-2, F-5 and F-5 Flacon
  • Perform simple math for accuracy of drilling and locating
  • Utilize various company issued locate tools and equipment while adhering to the company’s safety standards.
  • Utilize construction maps or blueprints to determine the presence of underground utility facilities.
  • Analyze job locations for utility line, permitting, and traffic control in order to complete construction activities without quality defects, safety incidents or any type of property damage.
  • Complete daily inspections and reporting of maintenance issues on vehicles, trailers, and equipment.
  • Works efficiently to achieve a high level of productivity daily.
  • Understand and follow specific oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to work well independently and as a part of a team.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Willingness and ability to learn additional skills.

Our Company:

We have been in business in New Mexico for nearly 30 years. We perform work for a variety of communications, power, and fiber optic and data/cell providers. We have 7 offices throughout New Mexico and an office in El Paso, TX.

Job Type: Full-time

Hours: Operators/Laborers report to headquarters at 7-8am. Typical day could include an 8-10-hour shift Monday-Friday. On-call rotation is required.

Pay: Based on Experience. Paid Bi-weekly. Hourly employee.

Position Requirements

Job Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years of directional drill locator equipment experience
  • 3-5 years of experience in the construction, underground or telecom industry
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, kneel, grasp, push, pull and reach on a frequent basis throughout the day. Must be able to lift-up to 40 pounds on a frequent basis and up to 75 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Time management skills
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Required to travel out of town to work on projects of varying length approximately 10% of the time.
  • CDL Class A license with tanker endorsement preferred.
  • Valid DOT Medical Card required
