Executive Director of ATCB 


Job Summary:

The Executive Director of ATCB manages the day-to-day operations and board management of the Center for Credentialing and Education's client the Art Therapy Credentials Board (ATCB).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Serves as Executive Director of the Art Therapy Credentials Board (ATCB) and provides direct professional executive services on behalf of the board.

• Assists the board in developing and maintaining a long-range strategy that achieves its mission to make consistent and timely progress.

• Provides leadership in developing organizational, programmatic, and financial plans with the Board of Directors and committees during mutually agreed upon times, which will include evenings and weekends, and implements these plans and policies as authorized by the board.

• Performs daily project coordination activities.

• Confers with board members, board attorney, board investigators, committees,organization officials, and/or staff members to discuss issues, coordinate activities, and resolve problems.

• Analyzes operations to evaluate performance of ATCB or its staff in meeting objectives or to determine areas of potential cost reduction, program improvement, or policy change.

• Directs, plans, and implements policies, procedures, objectives, and activities with the Board of Directors to maximize efficiency.

• Coordinates board and committee meetings to establish and maintain various ATCB efforts and encourages the board and committees to keep within established time frames, working with staff members as necessary to incorporate best practices into service development and provision.

• Researches policies and processes of similar boards as needed to establish and refine best practices and efficient functioning.

• Performs and coordinates activities required for planning and implementing meetings and conferences, as needed.

• Assists with applicant and credential holder database development, maintenance, and associated issues.

• Responds to emails from credential holders, exam candidates, and board and commitee members within a 48- to 72- hour time frame.

• Maintains an up-to-date database of consumer/client complaints.

• Hires, trains, and supervises staff for the ATCB; serves as backup to all national office roles.

• Work with the ATCB to facilitate marketing and communication needs.

• Reviews and maintains accurate records for all appeals. Responsible for providing recommendations to the Board of Appeals and communicating decisions to appellants.

Required Education/Experience:

• Bachelor's degree required.

Preferred Education/Experience:

• Master's degree preferred.

• Four (4) years of related experience and/or training preferred.

• Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• The noise level in the work environment is usually low.

Work Location:

• Primarily hybrid witha minimum of 2 days per week in the office.

Travel Requirements:

• Up to 10% travel.
