Position Summary:

Astronics Test Systems is looking for a highly motivated candidate for a Director of Accounting role. The position will report to the VP Accounting & Finance and will be an integral member of the team focused on developing consistent processes across all sites, domestic and international. This person will contribute to the accuracy and integrity of the Company's financial accounting and reporting and will assist the VP in setting guidelines for proper accounting of the Company's transactions under U.S. GAAP. The Accounting & Finance team works closely with the Company's senior management and must have very strong communication and presentation skills. The ideal candidate will be comfortable researching technical accounting issues and providing views on a broad range of accounting issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accounting Research
  • Evaluate the impact of new accounting standards on a changing business environment and develop a plan for execution.
  • Support senior management with analysis, review, reporting and other technical accounting related needs.
  • Update and/or implement accounting policies and procedures to respond to changes within the Company.
  • Monthly and Quarterly Requirements
  • Review site financial submissions and consolidate monthly financial statements.
  • Prepare/review account reconciliations
  • Prepare Quarterly P&L, Balance Sheet and Actual/Budget fluctuation analyses
  • Prepare Quarterly disclosure support schedules to Corporate
  • Prepare weekly cash forecasts
  • Provide timely and accurate program financials
  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors for interim and annual procedures, including facilitating deliverables with other accounting team members to ensure timely completion of the audit processes.
  • Assist with providing on-going technical accounting training to the Finance organization.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field
  • Certified Public Accountant
  • 5+ years of public and private industry experience
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and experience with the implementation of new accounting guidance.
  • Ability to set and keep deadlines at a fast pace without losing accuracy.
  • Outstanding organizational and project management skills with experience at managing multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to function independently, driven towards superior effort and performance along with the desire to work in a very dynamic environment.
  • Experience in a business partnering role, including understanding functional area roles, responsibilities, and the interdependencies with accounting.
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, including written and verbal communication, especially in developing positions and presenting to management, auditors, and non-accounting stakeholders.

Preferred skills:

  • Experience with systems implementations.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment and general knowledge of cost accounting and project accounting
  • Strong project-managements skills.
  • Confident self-starter who is flexible and embraces change.
  • Strong at execution, follow-up and attention to detail.
  • A team player, adept at building relationships across the organization.
  • Language Ability:
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Must speak English.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

  • Must be proficient using MS Office Applications such as Excel and Word.
  • Accounting software
