Job Summary

Responsible for leading quality and inspection initiative in the department through inspecting material at every stage of production including receiving, in-process and finished goods. Research, plan, train, execute, and facilitate departmental improvement programs to create a culture of continuous improvement and lean manufacturing that leads to team member empowerment, elimination of waste, and improvements in safety, quality, and service. Establish standard work procedures and instructions designed to drive forward and sustain continuous improvement and identify opportunities that provide quantifiable and sustainable improvement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan, execute, and oversee inspection and testing of products to confirm quality and conformance to specifications and deliverables.
  • Establishes a schedule for the inspection, calibration, and certification of all PTI precision measurement tools. Determines when repairs, replacements, and new equipment are required.
  • Works with machinist team members to ensure personal measurement tools and devices are calibrated/certified annually
  • Perform inspections across all stages of production.
  • Maintain logs for identifying and reporting issues to management and product development.
  • Provide training and support to quality assurance team that includes systems, policies, procedures, and core processes.
  • Identify areas for quality control improvement and implement new methods accordingly.
  • Completes special projects and other duties as assigned.
 
Position Requirements

Job Skill Requirements

  • Superb computer competence, including database management.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance terminology, methods, and tools.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of testing best practices, version control practices, and defect management practices.

Preferred but not required

  • Certified Six Sigma Black or Green belt.
  • Understanding of Agile/Scrum methodology and how QA functions within it.

 

Educations and Experience

High school graduate or equivalent education plus 1-3 years of relevant manufacturing experience. Minimum of 3 years in lean manufacturing. Professional certification CQE, or CQA preferred.
