The staff accountant is responsible for compiling various financial statements and reports for management use following all accounting principles and government regulations. Ideal candidate experienced in Syspro and/or Visual Infor

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.
  • Compiles and analyzes financial information in order to prepare journal entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, and documenting business transactions.
  • Sets up new accounts when needed.
  • Processes month-end reports for management review.
  • Process sales tax, review, reconcile and file online for each of the required states.
  • Analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital, and reviews and verifies balance sheet, profit and loss statement, zero price inventory reports, and other reports to summarize current and projected company financial position.
  • Prepares, verifies, and controls the entering of journal entries to the general ledger.
  • Evaluates subsidiary journals for obvious errors and omissions and enters corrected data into the general ledger.
  • Performs all tasks associated with the general ledger, i.e. enters monthly journal entries, executes monthly closing entries, executes month-end general ledger.
  • Ensures timely processing of financial statements.
  • Reconciles bank accounts and other company financial accounts; investigates discrepancies in accounts and make corrections as needed.
  • Perform closing tasks on ERP systems.
  • Payroll processing/review.
  • Supports accounting team by performing ancillary tasks. This may include supporting A/R & A/P functions.

Qualifications

  • Ideal candidate experienced in Syspro and/or Visual Infor.
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office with an emphasis on Excel required.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports, bank statements, and accounting regulations.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate to managers and other employees of the organization.
  • Requires a working knowledge of spreadsheet software and possess attention to detail.
  • Requires the ability to operate various office equipment to include a computer, calculator, and copier.
  • Calculate figures and amounts such as account balances, appropriate tax, discounts, interest, proportions, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.

Education and/or Experience

Requires an associates or bachelors degree in accounting from an accredited college or university. Minimum of1 to 2 years experience in an accounting role, preferrably at a manufacturing facility.
