The Internship will be a 10–12 week summer program.

This is a paid, full time (40 hours/week) position at the AstraZeneca manufacturing facility located at 4601 Highway 62 East in Mt. Vernon, IN.

Over the course of the summer, each intern will perform department specific day to day activities as assigned by their Mentor (supervisor).  Each intern will also be assigned a key project of which they will be responsible for leading, executing and reporting out on to Site Leadership and staff. Internship Mentors will guide and coach interns throughout the summer. Interns will also have the opportunity to job shadow and participate in various lunch and learns to gain a broad understanding of all functions at the Mt. Vernon site. 

We are hiring four separate roles within this department including a Capital Engineering Intern, Formulation Process Execution Team Intern - Maintenance, Metrology Intern, and Reliability Intern.

Objectives:

  • The Capital Engineering intern will assist performing engineering feasibility studies and execution of multi-discipline, CAPEX engineering projects. Some projects may be in the GMP or Facilities/Utilities space.  Interface with Maintenance and Engineering for complete and timely project execution.
  • The Formulation PET Intern will support the Formulation PET Team by completing a project that supports processing equipment maintenance, total predictive maintenance.
  • The Metrology intern will complete the projects that are identified regarding instrumentation maintenance and calibration.
  • The Reliability Intern will complete projects related to reliability and maintenance engineering.

Primary Duties:

(Capital Engineering Intern) Collaborate with contractors, consultants, and site personnel to establish capital engineering investment proposals, design and scope documents. Provide project and construction management support in implementation of capital projects.

(Formulation PET Intern) Data collection and analysis, process improvement, project execution, implement Lean Manufacturing Principles, etc.

(Metrology Intern) Gathering data and analyzing; documenting processes identified for improvement.

(Reliability Intern) Data collection and analysis, process improvement, project execution, etc.

 
Position Requirements
  • Rising sophomores, juniors, or seniors working towards a bachelor's degree in mechanic engineering/mechanical engineering technology, electrical engineering/electrical engineering technology, or operations.
  • Basic understanding of technical areas related to functional area of internship position.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, implement, and achieve significant, complex goals and objectives.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Mechanical/electrical mindset and critical thinking skills.
  • Experience using AutoCAD and Microsoft Project will be considered (for Capital Engineering Intern position).
  • Minimum cumulative GPA 3.0+.
