Description

JOB SUMMARY: Provides direct services to victims of domestic violence at the Safe House. Helps to maintain the physical welfare of the shelter facility and the physical needs of the residents.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provides support services, including but not limited to daily living skills, life skill development, supportive residential counseling, etc. as needed by each resident.
  • Maintains the security and safety of the residents and the facility.
  • Communicate, in written & verbal form, assessments & observations of clients to other treatment team members.
  • Maintains accurate/current client documentation according to accrediting standards.
  • Crisis intervention counseling via the 24/7 hotline;
  • Provide assessment and intake for emergency safe shelter;
  • Provide information, referrals, advocacy and supportive listening via hotline;
  • Perform frequent house checks to insure that the shelter facility is safe and clean.
  • Assist in the maintenance and upkeep of office areas;
  • Filing, photocopying, data entry and compiling statistical data as requested.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Basic computer and software skills and experience
  • Complete work with accuracy and meet deadlines
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; understand and follow directions
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, families, caregivers, service providers and staff
  • Knowledge of community resources is highly desirable
 
Position Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  any of the following:

  • High school diploma/GED) + four years of related work or life experience (experience related to job duties must be clearly documented);
  • Combination of one or more years of college + related work or life experience together equaling four years;
  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited college/university + one year of related work or life experience;
  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited college/university, in mental health, health or other appropriate human services related discipline. 

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS NEEDED:  Valid driver’s license is required.

MANDATED PHDVS PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS:  Providence House is a 24-hour residential crisis program, and as such requires staffing at all times. When accepting a position with this agency it is important to know that the regular shift at the time of hiring is subject to change during the course of your employment, and that at times of staff emergencies or special events you may be required to fill shifts other than (instead of) your regular shift.  This may include holidays.
