As Studio Manager at Brownells, you will lead our photo/video team in all production operations for hundreds of projects each year, both in Iowa and on location around the country. You will play a critical role in telling our story and in strengthening brand awareness and engagement.

What You Will Do

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide onsite direction and leadership for all photo/video production operations (both in studio and on location); lead team efforts from conception to execution and delivery, ensuring product quality and strategic alignment
  • Establish and maintain production schedules, demonstrating a thorough understanding of the business objectives behind each project
  • Manage team of in-house videographers, photographers, subject matter experts, as well as freelancers, providing guidance, training and performance reviews as needed
  • Serve as the organizations point of contact for all internal and external photo/video production requests; help determine the best category, style, and method for creating the most effective product to suit their needs
  • Work closely with Marketing, E-Commerce, Merchandising, and Creative Services to ensure all photography and video meet styling guidelines and support organizational priorities/objectives
  • Develop processes with other teams to ensure consistency of product, availability, scheduling, and a clear strategy for launching new videos
  • Conceive and develop storyboards and scripts with subject matter experts for all video projects
  • Maintain an organizational system for photo/video equipment, props, and studio sets
  • Coordinate troubleshooting and repairs for photo/video equipment as needed

What You Will Need

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required
  • Ideally 8+ years of experience creating digital video content
  • Ideally 2+ years in a leadership role, managing a team of 3 or more
  • Bachelor's degree in Film/Video, Communications, or similar media-driven field preferred
  • Experience managing studio workflows including prioritization, planning and task delegation under tight deadlines
  • Proven success in forecasting, budgeting, and managing resources for photo/video operations

Knowledge & Skills

  • Excellent administrative, organizational, logistical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to effectively interact with all levels of the organization and communicate information in a clear, timely, and thoughtful manner
  • Ability to give and receive creative feedback in a small team environment
  • Strong storytelling narrative skills in video and digital media space
  • Advanced knowledge of lighting and audio/video equipment, color correction, and editing using Adobe products such as Premier, After Effects, and Photoshop
  • Ability to create a mutually supportive work environment and culture where people can produce their best work
  • Firearms/industry product knowledge preferred

Physical Demands

Medium work. Medium work involves lifting no more than 50 pounds at a time, with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
