The Job Coach is responsible for the provision of coaching, job training, follow along, and advocacy support to persons currently employed in competitive community-based employment.  The incumbent will work closely with all members of the employment training team, Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation, Desert Regional Center and community employers to support each person towards achievement of their goals, in the setting of their choice. Nurture and maintain professional relationships with the area businesses that employ individuals receiving services.

  1. Responsible for maintaining professional positive relationship with community referral sources and area businesses to maintain existing lines of business.
  2. Travels to job sites to provide job coaching and advocacy to individuals. Works with individuals, in their places of employment, to provide guidance, feedback and insight as to how job functions might be completed in a more effective and efficient manner to meet employer’s expectations. 
  3. Participates in all required meetings with the individual’s DRC Service Coordinator and team and prepares any needed documentation as required by DRC.
  4. Prepares all necessary documentation including, but not limited to, departmental reports; interdisciplinary (ID) notes; incident reports; job coach monthly reports; mileage reimbursement requests, and submits within required timeframes.
  5. Ensures all required documentation is properly located in each individuals’ electronic file. Requests updated documentation from DRC at least yearly to ensure the individuals’ files are current and as up to date as possible.
  6. Compliance with all Federal and State regulations, company policies and procedures, and assists with coordination relative to all governing bodies (e.g. Adult Protective Services, local law enforcement, etc.).
  7. Performs other duties as assigned.



This position has no staff supervisory responsibilities.



Position Requirements


  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals, co-workers and supervisors (verbal and written).
  • Must possess social perceptiveness to assess and understand other’s reactions and behaviors.
  • Computer knowledge required including, but not limited to, Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook. 
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to resolve multiple complex issues simultaneously while remaining calm in stressful situations
  • Ability to work under strict deadlines
  • Must possess initiative and work well with others in a team-oriented environment



  • Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Required: Minimum one year work experience with case management, assessment and analysis, preferably in behavioral health and/or with intellectual disabilities.
  • Required: ACRE Employment Services or Equivalent certification.
  • Required: Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Required: A valid Nevada Driver’s License and reliable transportation.

  • Manual dexterity to operate office equipment and examine documents, records and files.
