Job Summary:

The NBCC Foundation Volunteer Coordinator will work in partnership with the Program Manager to successfully implement the volunteer program. Primary responsibilities relate to recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Collaborates with Communications Department and program team to conduct outreach to recruit a diverse pool of volunteers.

Responds to all volunteer inquiries for the Foundation.

Maintains public listings regarding volunteer opportunities.

Screens and interviews volunteer candidates.

Maintains relevant curriculum and related materials for volunteer trainings.

Implements orientation and updates trainings for all volunteers.

Provides follow-up and support for all volunteers.

Implements best practices for volunteer retention and engagement.

Coordinates with programs to maintain and implement volunteer process calendar.

Collaborates with Program Coordinator to create review teams.

Coordinates volunteer mentor matching and support activities.

Maintains up-to-date records on all volunteers.

Reassigns or terminates volunteers as needed.

Conducts annual performance reviews of volunteers.

Maintains database for tracking and scheduling volunteers and volunteer opportunities.

Collaborates with Communications Manager, programs team, and outside stakeholders to organize volunteer appreciation events and efforts.

Provides ongoing support for all volunteers.

Works with the Communications and program staff to implement the design, production, and distribution of program materials, including but not limited to program implementation documents, program announcements, letters/email/social media communications, brochures, grant reports, grant proposals, and website content.

Works with the Communications and program staff to plan, implement, and evaluate learning events, including but not limited to live events, webinars, and Symposium, to educate NCCs and the public at large about the Foundation and topics related to its priorities.

Works with the program staff in the implementation and evaluation of Foundation awards programs, including but not limited to the scholarship, fellowship, and capacity-building programs.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Communication Ability to listen to others, process information, and communicate effectively in oral and written formats, including knowledge of the structure and content of the English language.

Project Management Ability to work on projects with firm deadlines, project plans, and budgets.

Problem Solving/Analysis Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to see an issue and use objective analysis and evaluation in order to form a judgment.

Required Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree required.

Must be able to understand terminology related to the NCC certification.

Three (3) years of related experience and/or training in a nonprofit environment required.

Proficient with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and web-based meeting platforms.

Proficient with social media platforms.

Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Education/Experience:

Experience working in the counseling field or familiarity with the profession.

Experience working with underserved communities and/or knowledge of mental health concerns and issues that impact these communities (including racial, ethnic, cultural, religious, gender, sexual orientation, rural, or military groups).

Work Location:

Primarily hybrid with a minimum of 1 days/week in the office.

Travel Requirements:

Travel up to 10%

Essential Physical Demands:

Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers such as simple grasping, keyboarding, or fine manipulation.

Ability to use hands, including handeye coordination.

Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting.

Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds.
