Founded in 1848 by the Reformed Presbyterian Church of North America, Geneva has majors in both liberal arts and pre-professional programs, and offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees. Geneva's faculty provide a challenging education that prepares students for careers, for further education, and for life. In all fields of study, students are challenged to explore the implications of the Christian faith on their discipline. Geneva has approximately 1,350 students enrolled in its various programs taught by its faculty of nearly 70 members. Description

Summary of Responsibilities: This position is primarily responsible for strategy and creation of external copy communication related to recruitment of traditional undergraduate students, content editing and development for all programs, and social media strategy and direction. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Internal Communications.

 

Essential Responsibilities: (These essential responsibilities are those the individual must be able to perform unaided or with the assistance of reasonable accommodation.)

  1. Content Strategy:
    1. Work directly with the Assistant Director of Integrated Marketing and Assistant Director of Internal Communications on developing comprehensive strategies that align all areas of our marketing efforts.
    2. Oversees content strategy for external promotions and campaigns, including:
      1. Digital content strategy and story creation
      2. Lead creative strategy on video production – assisting Photographer and Videographer in execution.
      3. Drive creative strategy behind livestream event production.
    3. Editing and proofreading of existing and new electronic and print materials.
    4. Assist in the development of content surrounding the branding and roll out of associated materials
  2. Communication Plan Management:
    1. Serve as the Assistant editor of the Geneva Magazine
      1. Work with the Assistant Director of Internal Communications on creating and editing for the Geneva Magazine.
      2. Coordinate necessary photo shoots to accompany magazine theme and strategy.
    2. Contribute writing for various publications
      1. Including internal and external press releases, blogs, and website content.
    3. Ensure accuracy of content and distribution of material sent from the department.
    4. Assist in the creation and execution of outbound marketing collateral – including creation of copy and content for admissions related brochures, infographics, Viewbook and postcards.
    5. Assist in the management of content updates for the website, including but not limited to posting blogs, stories, and other necessary content through the CMS portal of the website.
  3. Social Media Management:
    1. Serves as lead administrator on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and any other designated social media platforms.
    2. Oversee student interns and possible Graduate Assistants in implementing social media plan.
    3. Create and develop content strategies for all social media channels working with the Director of Marketing and PR as well as the Assistant Director of Integrated Marketing.
    4. Guide the direction of social media content so that it engages a variety of constituents: prospective students and current students in all programs – TUG, ADP, and Grad, both classroom and online—parents, alumni, faculty, staff, donors, neighbors, and friends.
    5. Maintenance and enforcement of social media policy in regard to the creation of new accounts on campus.
  4. General Responsibilities:
    1. Open and distribute incoming area mail.
    2. Monitor and order office supplies for department.
    3. Manage departmental requisition orders through college’s requisition process.
    4. Follow all established procedures to ensure that confidential student information is protected.
    5. Adhere to College and Office policies and procedures.
    6. Perform other duties as assigned.
  5. Supervision:
    1. Supervise student employee(s) from other areas on occasion to include training, planning, assigning, and directing work, coaching, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
    2. Must have a mindset of mentoring employees under supervision. Should be able to lead in a way that sets a good example, promotes teamwork, and encourages a positive, efficient work environment.

Job Requirements - Administrative:

  1. General: Individuals must possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed or are able to explain and demonstrate that they can perform the essential responsibilities of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations in order to safely perform the essential responsibilities of the job.
  2. Physical: Must be able to perform the following: talking, hearing, and seeing. Must have sufficient manual dexterity to be able to operate all office equipment including, but not limited to: computers, fax machines, copy machines, modems, and telephones.
  3. Confidentiality: Individuals must recognize that management of data, including personal information, grades, budgets, programs, and policies is necessary to the operation of the College. Such information must be kept private and confidential for the protection of the College and to obey Federal and/or State laws. Should there be doubt as to whether a certain matter is to be protected, it should be discussed with your supervisor before making a disclosure.
  4. Mental: Must be able to reason, analyze, prioritize, conceptualize, make judgments, and solve problems.

 

Qualifications:

  1. Minimum:
    1. Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree.
    2. Experience: One year of previous enrollment, public relations, marketing, or telemarketing experience.
    3. Skill/Abilities:
      1. Ability to articulate a clear profession of faith in Jesus Christ and the implication of that faith for college admissions work.
      2. Ability to communicate effectively.
      3. Ability to work with a computer, including applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, Access; aptitude to learn other software systems.
      4. Ability to write social media and marketing copy and to edit and proofread standard English
      5. Ability to manage details and keep organized especially under time pressures.
      6. Ability to solve problems and handle crisis effectively.
      7. Ability to act as an intricate part of the Enrollment Services team and also to remain focused and work independently in a multi-task, fast-paced environment.
      8. Ability to think critically.
    4. Christian Commitment: eligible candidates must be a thoughtful and articulate Christian and an active member of a Protestant evangelical Christian church. Preference will be given to candidates who support and have an articulate understanding of the Reformed faith. The individual must understand and support the College’s “Foundational Concepts of Christian Education” by expressing an evangelical Christian profession of faith and demonstrate the ability to integrate a Christian perspective in their work.
  2. Preferred:
    1. Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree from a Christian Liberal Arts Institution.
    2. Experience: Social media administration; Worked with customer relationship management software, specifically Slate.
