Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Social Media Specialist is a member of the Tuba City Regional Health Care Corporation (TCRHCC) Office of Communication team. The incumbent is responsible for creating and administering content on all social media platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, to inform, build audience and certify customer engagement. The Specialist may also monitor site metrics, respond to reader comments, and be responsible for creative design of all platforms associated with the organization. Incumbent is responsible for coordinating, overseeing and executing the social media strategy for the health system and supporting the content marketing strategy. The key objective of this role is to use social media to drive TCRHCC’s content marketing strategy, align all content marketing with overall communication and marketing goals, and ensure that Tuba City Regional Health Care Corporation remains at the forefront of effectively leveraging the social technology available to drive broader awareness and engagement. The Social Media Specialist works in a busy office environment with frequent deadlines and phone interruptions. The position may require travel to off-site locations and other community venues.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Create (written and visual), manage and execute the strategy and daily management of TCRHCC social media channels and all social media marketing efforts. In collaboration with the Communications team, ensure integration of all social media communication efforts across the health system. Collaborate with other TCRHCC leaders, service lines, departments, and offices as appropriate.
  2. Serves as managing editor for TCRHCC's blog on all platforms represented by the organization.
  3. Regularly monitor and report on social media efforts to ensure organizational priorities are being met across all social channels. Manage TCRHCC's online reputation by monitoring social media and review sites and by developing appropriate responses, in conjunction with TCRHCC leaders, to actively strengthen reputation and improve public perceptions.
  4. Write copy for social media platforms and campaigns and contribute regularly to health system blog.
  5. In collaboration with the Communications team, support department head leaders, service lines, departments, and offices throughout the health system in developing social media strategies and leverage existing TCRHCC social media influencers.
  6. Research, organize and execute strategic coordination with other social communities and influencers outside TCRHCC.
  7. Oversee social media platforms to bring forward trends or opportunities and address relevant issues. Facilitate service recovery by addressing comments, complaints and incidents through appropriate response or by triaging to Patient Advocacy and the designated department/leader.
  8. Create social media best practice guidelines and training materials to educate, inform and guide employees in social media use. Coordinate with departments throughout the health system operating on a shared model for social media content created outside of the Communications department.
  9. Comply with all TCRHCC hospital policies and procedures when handling job functions and assignments.
  10. Completes all pertinent reports and job functions in a timely manner.
  11. Ensure proper PPE is worn at all times while on duty including but not limited to, face mask, gloves, gown, isolation gown, NIOSH-approved N95 filtering facepiece respirator or higher, if available), and eye or face shield.
  12. Complete all donning and doffing tasks in a safe acceptable method and discard of used PPE accordingly. (see CDC website for most current updates)
  13. Complete task training for all routine cleaning and decontamination processes for all surfaces contaminated by a communicable disease to ensure a high level of patient, visitor, employee and external customer satisfaction.
  14. Assist the Communications team with other departmental activities as assigned.

Physical:

Must be able to sit at desk for long periods of time, occasionally stand, walk, drive, bend, climb, kneel, crouch, twist, maintain balance and reach for objects. Must write legibly and use a computer terminal. Must be able to hear and talk over the telephone and in person with others. Must have ability for near vision, color vision, depth perception, seeing fine details and occasional far vision, hearing overhead speeches and telephone use. Must be able to occasionally lift, push and pull up to 100lbs. Frequent fine manipulation and firm grasping of both hands is required as well as prolonged simple grasping and prolonged use of the keyboards.

Mental:

Must be able to prioritize and use good judgment and analytical skills to make decisions that impact software operations, customer service, and patient care within the organization. Must be able to coordinate a variety of issues while being frequently interrupted and carry out all responsibilities related to this position. Must have ability of prolonged concentration, coping with high levels of stress, making decisions under high pressure, work along, and demonstrate a high degree of patience. Must frequently cope with anger/fear/hostility of others in a calm way, handle multiple priorities in stressful situation, and work in areas that are close and crowded. Incumbent must occasionally manage altercations and adapt to shift work.

Environmental:

May occasionally be exposed to infectious disease, chemical agents, dust, fumes, gases, extremes in temperature or humidity, hazardous or moving equipment, unprotected heights, and loud noises.

 
Position Requirements

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Graphic Design or related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in graphics designer, marketing, social media management or public relations.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience relating to marketing or public health communication and/or social marketing

Other Skills and Abilities:

A record of satisfactory performance in all prior and current employment as evidenced by positive employment references from previous and current employers. All employment references must address and indicate success in each one of the following areas:

  • Demonstrates the skills and competencies necessary to safely perform the assigned job, determined through on-going skills, competency assessments, and performance evaluations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, family members and co-workers in a manner consistent with a customer service focus and application of positive language principles.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and demonstrated ability in managing multiple projects simultaneously while working effectively under the pressure of last-minute deadlines and changing priorities.
  • Ability to effectively communicate health care information into understandable, everyday, engaging language.
  • Takes initiative and functions effectively, both independently and with Creative Copy Writer and Graphic Designer, with a willingness to assist with routine and last-minute projects.
  • Exceptional judgment and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential issues. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
  • Experience with Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn and other social media platforms as well as social media management tools.
  • Knowledge of the Healthcare industry and community.
  • Demonstrated effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently of and cooperatively with team members.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office applications and Adobe Creative Suite and other desktop publishing apps.
  • Completion of and above-satisfactory scores on all job interviews, demonstrating to the satisfaction of the interviewees and TCRHCC that the applicant can perform the essential functions of the job
  • Successful completion of and positive results from all background and reference checks, including positive employment references from authorized representatives of past and current employers demonstrating to the satisfaction of TCRHCC a record of satisfactory performance and that the applicant can perform the essential functions of the job
  • Successful completion of fingerprint clearance requirements, physical examinations, and other screenings indicating that the applicant is qualified to be employed by TCRHCC and demonstrating to the satisfaction of TCRHCC that the applicant can perform the essential functions of the job
