Works under the supervision of the Director of Emergency Services and other Registered Nursing Staff. Is responsible for assisting in the performance of delegated patient care activities, including activities of daily living and basic procedures, as well as identified competencies required in Emergency Services. Is responsible for performing the clerical and receptionist functions of the work area and other related technical and clinical support activities as directed by the RN. Monitors and records cardiac rhythms observed on cardio-respiratory monitoring equipment and reports abnormal findings to RN staff. Collaborates and interacts positively with the interdisciplinary team to provide quality care and achieve desired outcomes. May be required to work other shifts/units as needed. Performs other duties as assigned, including assisting with patient care.

High School diploma or equivalent.
Preferred: Advanced degree in Medical Assistant Program or successful completion of at least one quarter or semester of clinical work in a health-related program with a grade of C or higher. Certified Medical Assistant through AAMA preferred, not required.
Required: A minimum of one year experience in an appropriate health care setting such as a physician office, hospital, or clinic. Preferred: Two or more years’ experience in an appropriate health care setting such as physician office, hospital, or clinic. Required: Basic clinical skills and clerical skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to concentrate for long periods of time, work independently and exercise good judgment. Computer literate with good keyboarding skills along with familiarity with medical terminology. Obtains and maintains successful completion of BCLS Healthcare Provider Course. Must successfully complete a course in basic ECG rhythm and recognition within 6 months of hire. Must attend staff meetings, education, and training.
