Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory (SHC) is a Catholic, co-educational college preparatory secondary school located in the heart of San Francisco, California. Position Summary:

The Individual Giving Manager is an integral member of the SHC community, working with parents, alumni and benefactors to cultivate and solicit annual gifts and contributions through annual appeal efforts, the Parent Pledge Program and fundraising events. The Individual Giving Manager is responsible for designing and implementing a strategy to increase unrestricted annual support of Sacred Heart Cathedral through the timely execution of appeals, e-appeals and other multi-channel fundraising campaigns. The Individual Giving Manager serves as an investor relations manager corresponding and responding to benefactors, parents and alumni in a professional and timely manner.

The Individual Giving Manager reports to the Director of Advancement and supports the work of the Institutional Advancement Team.

This is a full time position located onsite at SHC's campus.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Mission

  • Invest in the mission of SHC and the charisms of the Daughters of Charity and De La Salle Christian Brothers through active mission and Catholic formation

  • Provide exemplary personal and professional presence throughout the San Francisco and greater Bay Area community and actively promote SHC's mission, philosophy, and brand among all current and future stakeholders

  • Act as a role model for integrity, spiritual focus, ethical behavior, fiscal responsibility and managerial excellence in support of the mission of SHC

Annual Appeals & Fundraising Events

  • Develop and implement digital and print fundraising strategies for Sacred Heart Cathedral's annual appeal campaigns, including the Fund for Excellence (annual fund), annual appeals, Walkathon, and 1WeekIrish. Ensure the effective articulation of this message across all media and in events related to these campaigns

  • Create content marketing for annual support of the Fund for Excellence in various community publications

  • Manage SHC's Fund For Excellence direct appeal program (Mail, Email, Online), including content creation, timeline, budget and mailing lists

  • Manage an individual leadership giving portfolio with the goal of raising $250,000

  • Develop and implement fundraising strategies for the Sacred Heart Cathedral Walkathon, the annual student fundraising event

  • Work with the Director of Advancement and the Special Events Manager to plan and implement the Walkathon, including lead up and concluding events

  • Coordinate the overall strategy and solicitation calendar for SHC's annual giving programs, in close collaboration with the VP for Advancement & Enrollment and the Director of Advancement, supporting the goal of raising $1,000,000 in annual giving.

  • Act as a first point of contact for SHC parents, the SHC Parents Association to support the athletics and visual and performing arts programs, and cultivate, maintain, and strengthen parent and parent of alumni ties to SHC, by providing high touch cultivation/stewardship/customer service, including activities such as handwritten notes, responding to inquiries, etc.

  • Work with the Special Events Manager to plan and implement stewardship and other special events.

  • Provide regular stewardship and progress to goal reports and dashboards

  • Work with the Director of Advancement to create a strategy to expand upon the Forever Irish Program, educating students about the importance of giving back to SHC as alums

  • Coordinate and execute in collaboration with the Advancement and Marketing team 1Week Irish, SHC's annual week of giving

  • Works with the Director of Advancement, Director of Stewardship & Future Gifts, and Database Administrator to maintain data and provide reports as needed

  • Understand Advancement data resources and manage wide-ranging data collection needs for individual and annual giving

  • Seek opportunities for professional development that will enhance job performance, including building networks within SHC and with colleagues at peer institutions

Prospect Research and Management

  • Under direction of the Director of Advancement, develop proactive research strategy to help build the fundraising base

  • Leverage data and institutional connections to identify and qualify prospects

  • Work closely with the Advancement Team to develop strategy for cross-pollination between alumni giving, major gifts, annual fund, and individual giving

  • Oversee a Prospect Management system for Advancement staff and work with the Director of Advancement, Database Administrator, and institutional advancement to develop an annual and long-term operational plan for the use of the database as a strategic tool for the Advancement Team

  • Collaborate with the Database Administrator on determining best practices for database use

Parent Pledge Program

  • Manage and execute SHC's Parent Pledge Program which generates $1.6 million in revenue annually, including but not limited to overseeing the pledge commitment process with incoming freshman and transfer families, timely follow-up with parents via phone, email, in-person and/or mail, data entry, pledge maintenance and monthly/quarterly/annual reporting

  • Promote and steward Parent Giving through the parent e-newsletter, alumni magazine, annual report and social media

  • Encourage and steward parents' participation in the life of the school

  • Solicit graduating families to join our Forever Irish Giving Program

Investor Relations and Constituent Engagement

  • Develop and implement proactive cultivation and stewardship plans of existing investor relationships, as delegated by the Director of Advancement

  • Oversee portfolio moves management for Vice President of Advancement and Admissions, Director of Advancement, Director of Stewardship & Future Gifts and other SHC staff, utilizing reports and notifications to drive action plans

  • Track all investor interactions and records next steps in a detailed and organized fashion, ensuring solicitor accountability

  • Ensure the highest quality of investor stewardship and guest experience for all Advancement-related guests to the SHC campus or through off-campus events

  • Assist in the acquisition of sponsorships and underwriting for 2-3 annual fundraising events to be determined with the Director of Advancement

  • In coordination with the Alumni Relations Manager, develop and execute alumni engagement plans in line with the SHC mission through events, support and volunteerism

  • Work with the Director of Advancement to create and manage a investor engagement strategy for parents of alumni who remain connected to SHC

  • With the Special Events Manager, plan and implement volunteer opportunities and volunteer roles to assist with Office of Advancement activities

Other Responsibilities

  • Proactively ensure that SHC's vision, mission, values, and culture are positively represented in various communication tools including publications, campaign letters and SHC's website

  • Attend functions beyond regular school day (evenings and weekends)

  • Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements

Qualifications & Skills:

  • At least 4-5 years of experience in nonprofit development/fundraising preferably in an educational setting

  • Must be highly organized, motivated, high-energy, detail-oriented self-starter, and work well within a fast-paced environment

  • Must show a high level of initiative and follow through with the ability to work independently

  • Detail-oriented, flexible, strong work ethic

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate in a diverse, inclusive work environment

  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends when necessary

  • Committed to ongoing education and professional growth

  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite; experience with relational databases (Salesforce or Raiser's Edge) is a plus.
