About the Position

Specialty Systems, Inc. has an immediate opening for an Electronics Technician with the below described skill set and experience to join our team of technical professionals supporting our Department of Defense customer at the Joint Base MDL-Lakehurst. In this position, you will have a high profile role within the team supporting the acquisition, development and on-going in-service engineering support of unique Department of Defense systems. You will be working on the Electro-Magnetic Aircraft Launch System (EMALS), one of the Navy's next generation mission critical systems for carrier aviation operations. Ideal candidates will have a broad set of technical skills and must be able to work both individually and within a team environment. As a member of our team you will be able to experience the professional satisfaction of playing a key role in ensuring that our Department of Defense customers' systems that have a direct impact on our country's war-fighting and peace-keeping capabilities are performing at optimal levels. This position is located at our customer site location at Joint Base MDL-Lakehurst. In this position, you will work our customer's Compressed Work Schedule which consists of working four 9 hour days (M-Th) and an 8 hour day (F) for the first week of a cycle followed by four 9 hour days (M-Th) and being off on the second Friday for the second week of a cycle. This results in a 3 day weekend every other week!

Job responsibilities will include:

  • Perform troubleshooting on the Electro Magnetic Aircraft Launch System (EMALS) and Advance Arresting Gear (AAG) systems.
  • Analyze and diagnose faults in electronic systems and equipment.
  • Interpret circuit wiring, logic cable diagrams, drawings, specifications, and schematics of complete systems and equipment to understand the function and interconnections of the various assemblies and troubleshoot systems.
  • Repair systems and equipment to include detecting and diagnosing malfunctions, tearing down equipment, repairing or replacing parts or components, calibrating and testing the modified or repaired equipment.
  • Fabricate electronic equipment in accordance with plans, specifications, and instructions including assembling, arranging, mounting, or wiring electronic parts and components.
  • Develop and design test equipment, analyze repair practices, or develop procedural instructions on methods and steps of equipment repairs.
  • Support testing, and troubleshooting at the EMALS and AAG labs and test sites at the NAVAIR Lakehurst base.

Position Requirements

Position Qualification Requirements:

Education, Certifications and Years of Experience:

  • A minimum of a high school diploma is required.  A BS/BA in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or trade school experience with classes related to electronics and electrical technology is preferred.
  • CompTIA Security+ CE or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification is preferred.
  • Must have at least 3 years experience performing electronic technician related work.  It is preferred that at least 1 year of this experience be on Department of Defense systems.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with an active security clearance at the Secret level or higher.  Candidates without a security clearance will be considered, however, this may delay the ability to actually begin employment..

Technical:

  • Experience designing and analyzing circuits, determining feasibility of these designs, evaluating equipment performance under varying environmental conditions, collecting data, or designing or modifying designs to achieve performance objectives.
  • Experience performing performing preventive and corrective maintenance to keep equipment and systems in reliable condition.
  • Experience installing equipment in accordance with plans, specifications, and detailed instructions, or reinstalling repaired or modified systems.
  • Experience fabricating electronic equipment in accordance with plans, specifications, and instructions.

Occasional overtime work may be required.

Security Clearance Notice:

Salary Range This position has a salary range of between $80,000 and $115,000, based on the candidate's match to the skill and experience levels required.
