Description

Job Title: Facilities and Utilities Technician

Purpose:

The Facilities and Utilities Technician performs a variety of routine and semiskilled tasks involving general maintenance of the facility, equipment, and grounds.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for the maintenance and repair of the facility’s appliances, electrical systems, plumbing, buildings, grounds, and other facility equipment; ensures that the facility and its systems are functioning correctly and in good repair. Specific responsibilities can include working with vendors and contractors on major repairs, performing minor repairs.

Perform routine maintenance, including painting, carpentry, plumbing, basic electrical, and furniture relocation.

Plan all activities associated with planned plant outages under the direction of the supervisor to provide for maximum use of available resources.

Maintain adequate supply inventory.

Ensure the facility meets safety and security regulations.

Maintain on-going communication with contractors, client, and team.

Assist with coordinating special events (sets up and tear down)

Communicate regularly with operations and maintenance to be aware of projects.

Plan any scheduled maintenance downtime with the supervisor.

Responsible for notifying supervisor of any problems or issues with inventory, planning and scheduling.

Follows all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) for the area worked

Ensure personal safety, food safety, and quality protocols are followed, especially with a focus on adherence to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) protocols and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs)

Utilizes all food safety and food security guidelines, including Safe Quality Foods (SQF) good manufacturing practices and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points

Other duties assigned by the Supervisor/Manager

Qualifications:

Must be 21 years of age

Minimum 3 years’ experience in manufacturing environment (food/beverage industry preferred).

General understanding of parts, electrical, welding, and mechanical

Strong communication skills and ability to plan/ schedule others to support the business.

Ability to manage projects

Must be accurate and detail-oriented team player.

Must be well versed in Microsoft Office, SAP experience preferred

Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills

Must be able to do simple mathematics

Must be highly organized

Must?have great attention to detail, essential problem-solving methods and initiative

Must have the ability to learn and apply policies, procedures, standards and guidelines

Must have the ability to perform assigned tasks in a timely and accurate manner with minimal supervision

Must have the ability to receive, understand and proactively respond to direction from supervisors/managers and other members of leadership

Must have the ability to work as part of a team and interact effectively with others

Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes

Must be able to read, recognize and speak the English language

Must be able to work overtime when needed

Working Conditions:

Must be able to stand/walk for up to 12 hours, and be able to sometimes push, pull, squat, bend, and reach

Must be able to use hands and fingers to control equipment for forms of communication by grasping, reaching, and using finger dexterity

Utilize visuAal acuity to operate equipment, read technical information, and/or use a keyboard

Must be able, with or without reasonable accommodation, be able to lift up to 50 pounds depending on job task

Must be able, with or without reasonable accommodation, be able to operate carts, dollies, and hand trucks of up to 100 lbs.

Must be able to climb and descend stairs safely, with or without reasonable accommodation, and work on a secure mezzanine at a height of up to 25 feet

Must be able to work in cool conditions in the winter and warm conditions in the summer

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $27.00 - $30.00 per hour

  • Must be well versed in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Teams and have the aptitude to learn SAP and other software programs
  • Must be highly organized
  • Must have great attention to detail, essential problem-solving methods and initiative
  • Must have the ability to learn and apply policies, procedures, standards and guidelines
  • Must have the ability to perform assigned tasks in a timely and accurate manner with minimal supervision
  • Must have the ability to receive, understand and proactively respond to direction from supervisors/managers and other members of leadership
  • Must have the ability to work as part of a team and interact effectively with others
  • Must have the ability to work in a fast paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes
  • Must be able to read, recognize and speak the English language
  • Must be able to work overtime when needed
  • Previous experience working in a food and beverage manufacturing facility with knowledge of GMPs, HAACP and Food Safety preferred
  • Knowledge of quality tools such as auditing, Root Cause Problem Solving, pareto charts, customer service, corrective/preventive actions (CAPA), etc. preferred
