Job Summary:

Collaborates with Corporate EHS to administer the overall EHS program throughout the CG corporation. Directly responsible for the EHS Program at our Los Angeles, CA facility while ensuring all EHS related programs for Western Regional CG facilities are developed, implemented and practiced consistently to promote compliance and a safe work environment adhering to all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures. Serves as a subject matter expert on all safety, compliance, regulatory and related insurance requirements. Addresses all health and safety concerns from workplace inspections, incident reports or worker concerns, and attends all EHS related meetings.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Create, revise, and implement Certified Group (CG) Corporate EHS Policies, Procedures and Forms
  • Directly manage all EHS processes at the CG facility Los Angeles, CA
  • Develop and implement facility inspection policies and procedures. Responsible for updating, maintaining and auditing location EHS standards and procedures on a quarterly basis.
  • Maintenance of HAZWASTE, Emergency Response, and Infectious Waste Disposal Programs
  • Maintain the Chemical Hygiene Program - ensuring chemical inventories for all labs and inventory rooms is being conducted, tracked, analyzed, with annual waste stream analysis and waste mgmt. plan reviews.
  • Conduct Accident / Incident Root Cause Analysis and complete Investigation Reports
  • Maintain applicable EHS scorecards, documents, SOPs, databases, etc. as needed
  • Maintain EHS related documentation and processes for Worker Compensation program
  • Prepare and submit annual Health and Safety Budget(s) to CG EHS Dept.
  • Prepare Monthly, Quarterly and Yearly Safety Review Reports as needed
  • Contribute to pollution reduction, recycling efforts and sustainability.
  • Collaborate on and implement injury reduction plans
  • Assist with Development of corporate and regional EHS communications
  • Partner with Corporate EHS to set priorities within the region
  • Assist with acquisition integration, as needed
  • Assist with managing the Corporate Safe Driving Program including reviewing of fleet telematics data for trends and develop action plans for improvement
  • Coordinate with vendors, communicating results with management, Corp EHS, and affected workers.
  • Initiate Incident and Hazard Reports into database and conducting investigations where needed.
  • Schedule, Coordinate, and ensure Emergency Drills are conducted
  • Administering the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) program including review and evaluating of existing and new processes.
  • Conduct and Coordinate all EHS related Training (Online or in-person where needed)
  • Other duties as assigned

Supervision:

  • Manages Western Regional Environmental, Health, and Safety efforts.
  • Implements CG Corporate EHS and Laboratory Quality Policies performing their duties in accordance to existing project specific requirements, current Test Methods, study plans and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Compliance to EHS policies and procedures and wear required Personal Protective equipment at all times
  • Serves as a safety/compliance liaison with outside organizations.
  • Other duties as assigned

 
Position Requirements

Education & Experience:

  • University degree, College degree, or Technical Institute diploma required
  • Occupational Health and Safety Certificates preferred
  • Standard First Aid Training preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience with the creation, administration and maintenance of EHS Programs within a laboratory environment
  • Experience with the identification and control of laboratory, chemical safety, and EHS related hazards
  • Familiar with OSHA and NFPA regulations preferred
     

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

  • Sitting for extended periods of time
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse and to handle other communications/computer components
  • Corporate assignments / duties as assigned
  • Day and/or night shifts
  • Use of safety equipment / PPE.
  • Must be able to drive a vehicle to and from inspections.
  • Travel is required for this position and may be at remote laboratory locations up to 50% of the time.
  • Potential exposure to odors, fumes, airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, and microbiological pathogens
  • Physically able to conduct inspections and carry equipment used for inspections.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at a time.
  • Ability to travel to Canadian facilities, when needed.
