Valley Community Services Board serves as the single point of entry into publicly funded mental health, developmental, and substance use disorder services for these localities.

Description

VCSB is looking for a Client Engagement Specialist to join our Behavioral Health team! The Client Engagement Specialist provides client and clinical support services at the front desk, including customer service, waiting room coordination, electronic health record registrations, and more.

Summary of Essential Functions

  • Greets clients at check-in and notifies clinical team of arrivals.
  • Maintains basic client information in the electronic health record.
  • Completes registration for new clients.
  • Schedules appointments for Open Access.
  • Receives phone calls to the agency's primary phone lines.
  • Coordinates with VCSB teams as needed.
 
Position Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of:

  • Basic human needs.
  • Community resources.
  • Interviewing techniques.
  • Appropriate professional behavior.
  • Basic psychopathology.
  • Substance use and co-occurring disorder.
  • Human rights.
  • Laws, regulations, and best practices regarding confidentiality.

Skills pertaining to:

  • Assessing an individual's ability to adequately maintain themselves in the community.
  • Basic crisis intervention.
  • Advocating for clients.
  • Communication with individuals who have serious mental illness or dual diagnosis.
  • Communication in written and oral formats.
  • Use of basic office equipment, including phones with multiple lines, Windows computer and Microsoft Office, copier, and fax machine.

Ability to:

  • Work effectively with individuals experiencing substance use and/or a wide range of mental disorders.
  • Demonstrate sound judgement.
  • Administer unrine drug screening.
  • Work cooperatively with others within and outside VCSB.
  • Adhere to professional ethical standards.
  • Communicate effectively in written and oral formats.

Minimum Qualifications

All applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications in order to be considered qualified for the position:

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

The most competitive candidates have one or more of the following characteristics:

  • At least one year of experience working in a clinical setting such as a doctor's office.
  • Previous experience in a mental health care or substance use setting.
