Description

As a Laborer, daily work will involve locating and determining where underground utilities are placed/ should be placed. Your day will also include Placement of fiber optic and copper or power cables, conduits, enclosures, vaults, cabinets, poles, and related equipment. Most of the work is underground/excavation projects which includes frequent shovel work.

 
Position Requirements
  • Correctly, safely, and efficiently locate underground utilities, including telecommunications, electric power, cable TV, gas, water, and sewer systems.
  • Thoroughly search for underground utilities in a designated area, accurately marking the location, completing the necessary documentation for all locates.
  • Assists crew leader in construction, reconstruction, and maintenance work
  • Assists equipment operators by spotting/swamping, hand digging, and locating underground obstructions
  • Drives commercial vehicles equipped to transport a variety of materials and equipment
  • Complete daily paperwork in an accurate manner
  • Ensures the truck has current licenses, tags, permits, and proof of insurance
  • Works with specialized equipment including jackhammers, rotary drills, demo saws, and other industry tools
  • Signals equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials
  • Works safely around backhoes, excavators, trenches, and dump trucks
  • Cleans and prepares construction sites to eliminate possible hazards
  • Commitment to safety in all work

 

Job Qualifications/Experience:

  • 1-2 years experience locating underground utilities
  • 1-2 years experience as a laborer
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions
  • CDL Required

 

Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications:

  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of Idaho Driver’s License is required within two weeks of employment.
  • Candidates must pass criminal and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background checks and pass a pre-employment drug screen.
