Since 1971, Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board has provided a comprehensive continuum of high-quality, essential, and community-based services to citizens of the Peninsula who are affected by mental illness, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorders.
Hampton Roads Clinic (HRC) provides comprehensive outpatient treatment and recovery services for individuals who have an opioid use diagnosis using methadone prescribed by a licensed physician. In addition to medication assisted treatment, HRC provides cognitive behavioral and psycho-educational counseling services in an individual, group and or family setting.
The Behavioral Health Care Nurse, LPN, assists the staff physcian in the prescription, administration and monitoring of client medications; performs routine physical and mental health nursing assessments and provides supportive counseling. Monitors the medical needs of clients and administers methadone to clients. Prepares related documents and records. Incumbent may administer drug testing, T.B. testing and other medical screening.
Requirements:
Graduate of an accredited LPN school of nursing with one year of experience in the administration of medication or in a substance abuse treatment, psychiatric setting or long term care facility including the dispensing of narcotic medication.
Current Licensed Practical Nurse license from the Virginia State Board of Nursing.
As a condition of employment with Hampton – Newport News CSB, you are required to provide proof that you are fully vaccinated for COVID 19 or fit within an exemption under the law. The selected candidate must successfully pass a criminal history fingerprint background investigation, Child Registry search, drug screening test and employment reference checks.
