Major Responsibilities

Workers Compensation

  • Responsible for compliance with relevant laws, regulations, policy requirements, industry standards and company policies
  • Manages and administers the workers compensation program including claims administration from inception to resolution, timely filing of state and federal reports including First Reports of Injury, wage statements, supplemental and BLS reports, develop job analysis and coordination of return to work, etc.
  • Investigate new claims, authorize, and arrange initial treatment, when necessary, develop defenses if claim is headed to litigation
  • Communicate with injured employees regarding claims, workers compensation benefits, medical treatment, as appropriate, off work, restricted and return to work policies
  • Collaborate with operations, field, and corporate managers to facilitate reporting work-related illnesses and injuries
  • Monitor claims management including claim reserves approval
  • Collaborate with leave and benefit coordinators to ensure appropriate use and access to applicable leave
  • Coordinate with adjusters and legal counsel in preparation for workers compensation conferences and hearings
  • Attend and/or testify at workers compensation mediations, conferences, and hearings (virtual or in person)
  • Participate in claims reviews
  • Coordinate with HR and TPA to ensure appropriate claims coding
  • Develop knowledge of U.S. multi-jurisdictional laws and statutes
  • Develop knowledge of Canadian province laws
  • Maintain incident report database and regulatory records such as OSHA Reports
  • Prepare correspondence, forms, reports, using personal computer
  • Maintain physical and electronic workers compensation records, including confidential medical and legal records
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly management status and other claim analysis reports
  • Maintain confidentiality of information

Auto

  • Manage auto claims in compliance with state/provincial laws, policy requirements, corporate travel, and rental policies
  • Investigate new claims, authorize drug test where appropriate
  • File First Report of Loss when appropriate
  • Collaborate with adjuster regarding allowable benefits and demand settlements
  • Facilitate rental companies where appropriate to determine liability
  • Process requests for deductibles and/or damage payments when applicable
  • Maintain Authorized Driver List
  • Collaborate with Travel Dept. and recruiting regarding employee driver/rental eligibility
  • Maintain acknowledgment and updated insurance information for employees who drive own vehicles

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • High School Diploma and minimum 3 years equivalent experience in similar position
  • Minimum 5 years workers compensation claims experience (multi-jurisdictional preferred)
  • Workers' compensation or all lines license helpful, but not required
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Excellent knowledge of latest local, state, and federal insurance-related policies
  • Good understanding of insurance claims negotiations and settlement techniques
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
