Annual Salary $28,163.20+$1,000 sign-on bonus

Monday - Friday 8:30a to 5p

Since 1971, Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board has provided a comprehensive continuum of high-quality, essential, and community-based services to citizens of the Peninsula who are affected by mental illness, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorders.  

The Rapid Adult and Children Engagement Program is aimed at engaging adults and children into behavioral health services shortly after a crisis and at critical times when they are most likely to be open to engaging in services.

Peer Recovery Specialist I provides peer support; serves as a consumer advocate; carries out support functions. The Peer Recovery Specialist may assist individuals with basic physical, financial, social, personal, and recovery needs. Services carried out by the Peer Recovery Specialist I include monitoring, advocacy, daily living support, and similar functions.

Requirments:

High School Diploma or GED AND Must be a person who has experienced a mental health and/or substance use condition and who has a minimum of 12 months of successful recovery to include making progress in learning about and managing his or her condition and in developing a life outside of, or in addition to, this condition.  Must successfully pass all required trainings within the first 15 days of employment. Please submit your Department of Motor Vehicle driving record current within the last 60 days.

Valid Driver's License.

As a condition of employment with Hampton – Newport News CSB, you are required to provide proof that you are fully vaccinated for COVID 19 or fit within an exemption under the law. Accordingly if selected, employment is conditioned on providing proof of vaccination or having an approved exemption prior to starting employment.

The selected candidate must successfully pass a criminal history fingerprint background investigation, DMV record check, Child Registry search, drug screening test and employment reference checks.
