The Assembler Technician is responsible for producing components by assembling parts and subassemblies. The position will be based in Palo Alto, CA and reports to the Manufacturing Manager.


In this role you will:

  • Be responsible for performing entry level mechanical, electronic, opto-mechanical and/or electro- mechanical assembly or system level assembly operations using various hand tools, fixtures and equipment.
  • Follow product methods to perform standard tasks such as component installation, electrical wiring, hand soldering, cable harnessing, plumbing, gluing, cleaning, labeling and packaging of sub-assemblies.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, protocols and industry regulations.
  • Work semi-independently to build precision optical and mechanical sub-assemblies.
  • Use precision devices and equipment to ensure perfect form, fit and function of sub-assemblies.
  • Perform in-process quality checks on components and assemblies.
  • Collect and maintain (kit) materials for sub-assemblies.

If position is in Shipping, the role will also include:

  • Final quality check of the system against the final checklist.
  • Preparation of system accessories.
  • Packing/crating the system and accessories for shipment.
  • Uncrate and log-in field returns.
 
Position Requirements

Experience And Education:

  • Ability to identify defects and deficiencies in material and assemblies.
  • Ability to troubleshoot typical problems and offer suggestions for resolution.
  • 1 to 2 years in a manufacturing assembly role.
  • Good manual dexterity and eye/hand coordination.
  • Ability to routinely stand or sit for up to 2 hours.
  • Ability to routinely bend, reach, stoop, push and pull.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to collaborate with team members.

 

If position is in Shipping, additional requirements include:

  • Proficient in using pallet jacks, dollies and hand-trucks.
  • Attention to detail and a keen eye for discrepancies, flaws, errors, missing and wrong parts, etc.
  • Ability to work under pressure of meeting shipping deadlines.
  • Ability to quickly adjust priorities without compromising quality or productivity.
  • Ability to sit, stand, push, pull, reach, stoop, kneel without difficulty, as needed to perform job functions.
  • Able to lift up to 30 pounds several times per day.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all environments.

 

The ideal candidate may also have:

  • Work experience with medical products, optics cleaning and handling, and component mounting and gluing.
  • Work experience in a medical device or medical product environment.
  • Experience in working as part of a team toward a common goal.
  • Experience using manual and power hand tools.
