Digital Strategy Manager

The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures furthers the understanding, celebration, and preservation of cinema through inclusive and accessible exhibitions, digital experiences, screenings, programs, initiatives, and collections. Welcoming visitors from Los Angeles and around the world, and serving a global audience online, the museum works in active partnership with motion picture artists and specialists, scholars, staff, and diverse communities to contextualize and challenge dominant narratives around cinema, inspiring discourse, connection, joy, and discovery.


Reporting to the VP, Digital Content and Strategy, the Digital Strategy Manager will oversee project management workflows and budgets, serve as a central voice in project evaluations, and create recommendations for enhancements of strategic initiatives. You will also confidently build a professional rapport with internal and external stakeholders and help establish and coordinate processes.

You Will:

  • Lead project management workflows for a variety of digital projects, assist team members with accountability, and follow through on owned projects.
  • Assist with researching the use of new technologies in the sector and evaluate current trends regarding their efficacy and impact on audience.
  • Manage administrative and logistical tasks, assisting team members where appropriate on a day-to-day basis.
  • Assist in tracking department budgets.
  • Create and oversee the documentation of a long-term digital content calendar that includes milestones and deliverables of each project of the digital content team.
  • Lead evaluation efforts of digital projects (e.g., engage project owners on the team in assessing effective methods for evaluations, develop recommendations for evaluation methods, implement workflows and timelines, and create summary reports and analysis).
  • Create reports on digital initiatives for a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Serve as a central figure for communicating across the Museum’s departments on a variety of shared initiatives and efforts.
  • Assist team members with leading a team of designers, programmers, digital specialists, and other vendors.
  • Employ equitable and inclusive practices to grow digital audience.
 
Position Requirements

You Have:

  • A bachelor’s degree required. Experience performing the duties of this job will substitute for the degree requirement.
  • Proven track record of managing projects, timelines, and budgets.
  • Excellent professional and confident communication skills.
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working in museums a plus.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, AirTable, Asana or other project management platforms. Proficiency in scheduling and recording Zoom meetings.
  • Extensive experience with analytics, tracking KPIs, reporting and analysis.
  • Interest in film, culture, and museums.
  • A commitment to diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion.
