PURPOSE

This position will be responsible for maintaining and implementing the tire program, as outlined by the Tire Program Manager. This position mounts/demounts tires; ensures conformance to industry standards; examines and repairs tires. This position also inventories and requisitions supplies.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Conduct inventory cycle counts and ensure an adequate supply of tires and related parts.
  • Inspect and test tires to ensure conformance to standards.
  • Perform all necessary tire repairs and tire balancing.
  • Manage disposition of all off tires at assigned facility.
  • Assist in conducting assigned shop scrap analysis.
  • Operate and maintains hand/power tools, balancing equipment, and other specialized automotive tools and machinery.
  • Provide training to all technicians on industry best practices.
  • Practice safety methods in the operation of equipment and performance of duties.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
  • Operate independently and as a team member.
  • Ability to deliver exceptional service through positive engagement and patience.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, to continuously improve results.
  • Able to promote a culture of trust and safety.
 
Position Requirements

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Experienced in tire wear, mounting/dismounting using hand tools, maintaining stocking levels.
  • Organizational skills (Lean thinking process organization)

Preferred Skills

  • 3 years of experience in the tire maintenance field.
  • Vendor sponsored training in mounting/dismounting, tire repair, valve stem replacement, balancing tires.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position will be required to work in a shop environment in which the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration, heat and cold, and increased levels of noise, and

  • Constantly positions oneself to operate, inspect, and move up to 60 pounds,
  • manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard on a daily basis,
  • detect, recognize and assess printed text and hand written documents,
  • be able to communicate and exchange accurate information.
