Wyandot BHN has an immediate opening for a Grant and Development Coordinator.  The new Coordinator will  have a background in grant writing and fundraising which play a pivotal role in increasing individual, corporate, and foundation giving for Wyandot BHN. He/she/they will be a self-starter, motivated, and committed to engaging donors and raising funds to support mental health and housing. 

 
Position Requirements

Accountabilities:

  • Donor Cultivation and Stewardship—work closely with development director to research, identify, connect, solicit, and steward individual, corporate, and foundation donors.
  • Special Event Management—assist with developing and planning annual fundraising, cultivation/stewardship events and staff celebrations with development director and volunteer commmittees.
  • Capital Campaign Support—help coordinate and participate in campaign activities and Steering Committee meetings; assist with donor cultivation, committee management and communications; record and distribute meeting notes and follow-up reminders to Steering Committee members.
  • Annual Gala—manage the live and silent auctions, including working with Gala committee to secure donated items; recording and organize donatinos for event; assist the development director and Gala committte with evening planning, including logistics and volunteer recruitment and management.
  • Grant Support—manage a small portfolio of foundation and corporate donors; assist the development director with preparing grant proposals and reports; manage the annual grant calendar; support the development director and/or grant consultants in preparing government grant proposals.
  • Volunteer Management—develop and manage fundraising and outreach volunteer opportunities and groups; respond to requests and recruit volunteers for special events, outreach, and services.
  • CRM Management: manage the Wyandot BHN CRM/Donor database, including recording gifts, updating records, pledges, grants, campaigns/appeals, and preparing constituent mailing lists.
  • Donor Appreciation: craft engaging, individualized, and timely donor thank you letters; plan stewardship activities; provide reminders on assigned donor acknowledgements and activities.
  • Donor Communications—coordinate regular donor communications and fundraising appeals (print, email) in partnership with the development director and communications specialist; regularly update to the Wyandot BHN website fundraising pages with appeals, and campaigns.
  • Social Media—provide support for Wyandot BHN social media platforms; with guidance and support from the communications specialist, create content and images, assist the communications specialist with posting regular content to engage donors, sponsors, clients, staff, and community partners.
  • Community Outreach—lead and increase Wyandot BHN efforts to connect with the Wyandotte County community and partner organizations; assist program staff with coordinating outreach opportunities, assist with hosting informational booths and tables; manage any follow-up and track and monitor outreach activities.
  • Mental Health Month—work with program staff and communications specialist to develop and implement community-focused Mental Health Month activities and campaign.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of grant writing, fundraising, and donor tracking systems preferred
  • Strong belief that all persons deserve access to mental health care, a safe and affordable place to live, and a community that supports them.
  • Deep commitment to equity, diversity, cultural humility, and inclusion.
  • Passionate advocate for persons with mental illness and those experiencing homelessness.
  • Ability to engage and connect others to our mission in person and in writing.
  • Willingness to learn and an appreciation for change and continuous self-improvement.
  • Empathy, compassion, tactfulness, and a good sense of humor.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 + years of experience in development, communications, event planning, volunteer management, community outreach/organizing, or related work, volunteer, or internship experience.
  • Experience and comfort with social media and basic website maintenance/management.
  • Basic graphic design and digital content skills: CANVA, Constant Contract, inDesign, or other tools, or willingness to learn.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills—great attention to detail.
  • Bilingual is a plus.
  • Strong organization and research skills.
  • Proficient with Office, Word, Power Point, and Excel, or willingness to learn.

Shift Days  
Hours Monday - Friday 8am to 5pm with occasional evenings and weekends.  
Pay Range $35,000 to $40,000
